Hi All,
I am Adam Hilton, been present on this earth for 26 years now. I have taken up the Javelin again after an 8 year break. I started a bit of winter training back in Nov '04.
My PB when I was 18 was 53.55, I have been throwing over that in training but that don't count!!
I have discovered that I am not as flexible as I was 8 years ago and keep on hurting myself (currently have shooting pain in my shoulder joint when I execute the hip turn, and am having physio).
At the mo I am training with Basingstoke & Deane Athletics Club 2 nights a week. I have a 16 week old little boy and finding time to train is a wee bit difficult (the poor little fella was ill the w/e of JavFest and I couldn't make it).
I am throwing mid fifties off a 5 step run up so I am hoping when I get my run up technique sorted I should be getting over the 60 mark by then end of the season.
Prior to this season I have never had any formal javelin coaching and am just naturally good at lobbing things (all that practice as a kid throwing stones at lamp posts!!)
And finally I have to say a big well done to all those folks who have put such a great Javelin resource on the net!!
Cheers. ;D

Hi
Just caught your site recently and been reading your contributions with great interest and amusement. Cool site. I've forwarded the details to a couple of athletes that I coach to spread the word! My name's Nige Bevan and although I have been making a fruitless attempt to resurrect my throwing career, I find it very hard to be bothered.
However, I've just bought a pair of boots off Bourne sports as I cannot find any of the many I was supposed to have at several different locations as is the case with javs. I seemed to have misplaced and given away them all over the last few years. I chucked 63m last year although should have thrown alot further but coaching commitments (and a dodgy shoulder/back/adductor/attitude/motivation terminated further humiliation) which is a poor excuse. I chucked 81.70m a few years back and some longer ones in my US College meets when I worked there.
Coach a few canny girls and boys, from long distance now as I left the Birmingham area and now live amoung sheep and cattle but thankfully Backley is helping out (well appreciated by all!).
Tyson, Jo and Becks... introduce yourselves!
Chars

Hello, My name is Ron Johnson. I am a new member. I live in the state of Oregon, USA. I have worked with Dick Held at AMF Pacer from 1981 to 1987 and I ran the javelin department at OTE from 1995 through 1999. Since 1999, I have had my own company rebuilding javelins at www.thejavelinman.com I tried throwing once and my elbow made a popping sound and hurt for 3 months. So, I stuck to research and developement and manufacturing of javelins. I love the sport and the people are great. I enjoy this site, thanks Sam! Sincerely, Ron
