Well first post better make it here i guess, My Names Gary and im 30 years old (soon to be 31 !!) and all being well i should be throwing stuff about for Rossendale Harriers. My personal best is somewhere around 36 meters from when i was 15 years old (god bless schools who only like runners and football players). i am aiming to get a little further than that in the next week or two if i can work out which foot follows which as for my other sporting bits and bats, played rugby league 11-14 years old, jumped to union and played for a while 20-24, then got playing american football for manchester for a sesson or so. hopfully il meet one or two of you at the north meetings over the next few months, anyways thats it i guess.

Hi Gary, welcome to the site. Plenty of advice and controversy on here if that's what you like!
Who did you play RU for?

Bounced around a couple of teams, started at Whitworth when we had a team. then played a few matches at Sedgley park and Heaton moor and Littleborough.
Aye, i guess its the same all over with sport on a national and international level in the uk, everyone knows better it seems. Was the same with american football.

I am Florian,
I have just moved to Nottingham and am looking for a venue/club where I can train. I used to throw the javelin as a kid and teenager in East Germany, haven't trained in a long long time but want to know if I could still do it. Throwing javelin was my favorite discipline at athletics and I really want to try it again. So, I would be really grateful, if somebody could point me into the right direction. Many thanks and hope to hear from you soon! Florian

Welcome, Florian. I hope you find a coach soon. I am looking forward to your posts for the quality of your English which puts many of us native speakers to shame.

Do not dare to mock Patience!! She has a lovely turn of phrase and I have never heard her drop a consonant yet - something a lot of english people could do with remembering! ;D ;D

Hopefully you can get to 70m and make it to the Europen Under 23's in 2009 64.71 metres is more than reasonable for a 20 year old . It would put you in the top 5 for 2008 in our country and well in the top 40 of all time at that age group. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D In fact I think it's a damn good effort for any age. Keep enjoying the sport. I hope that you continue to throw these reasonable distances!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jeremy,
Hakan is 20. Are you thinking he is a Junior? I don't think he said that.
