Thanks a lot Nigel!
I have already seen so much knowledge and expertise about your event around here, I really like that you guys have so much passion for it! I will try to contribute to your cause as much as I can.

hahaha! A legend indeed lsabre!
Hope you guys don't mind a 'jogger' joining the club? Well, I used to be a jogger. Is couch potato a sport these days? Anyway, because I've not joined enough message boards I thought I'd join this one as well 'cos I really enjoy reading the discussions you have on here.
For those who've not had the pleasure or otherwise of discussing things on various message boards, my name's Ian, I'm an armchair fan these days, though I used to run middle distance as a youngster. I've just started as a hobby the Athletics In Britain blog. I live in Liverpool and live next door to the home of Liverpool Harriers.

Hey Usedtoit33, nice to see you round here as well! That makes two of us who are not javelin people over here. I too enjoy the stuff I read (and see in cases of videos/pictures) in various threads, hoping to increase my input here in the future.
By the way, Usedtoit33 is doing a very good job with Athletics In Britain, and I am lending him a hand with the results as well. It is really worth a look.

Hello. I have been enjoying reading the posts on here for a few months, and I though I would sign up incase I would have any questions on points I was not clear on. I have been researching many throwing types mainly because of my love of cricket, and wanting to continue in this sport I have needed to drastically change my throwing action because of the many injuries to my arm. Javelin was particularly appealing because I can't believe their arms don't fall off, so I was trying to understand why they didn't. You guys are obviously crazy to do it to yourselves, so nice to meet you all! Willie J

thanks for joining up Willie..
it's good to see our forum can offer advice to other sports as well as just javelin.
If he is ever about on here.. you should try speaking to JB (john Bryson) he is a cricketer turned javelin thrower

crazy?.....we certainly must be! it is recommended that people take up sport to maintain a healthy lifestyle - javelin throwing is far from that, it's incredibly destructive on the body, probably the most punishing event within athletics. some famous british male javelin throwers you may have heard of like ex WR holder and 3 time olympic medalist steve backley and european silver and many time UK champion mick hill had to have many operations through their career, notably backley had a hip replacement just after he finished his career - still in his 30's! ;D and these guys are top athletes who made it their career to become conditioned enough to stay healthy and still many injuries occur.....so yep, we are fully paid up members of the raving looney party!!! ;D welcome to the house of fun anyway!

Hi everyone, name's Caroline. Haven't been involved with the Javelin Club since it's first comp at Watford, but still throwing and coaching down in Sussex. Hubbie bullied me into joining on line now we have the Web!!! Level 2 working to 3, Sussex Squad coach and can usually be found trying to prove I'm not past it down at Worthing. I have still have 2 club records to my name but there's an U17 lady I coach trying to knock this old lion off her perch! I have one claim to fame - I tried to coach Jonathan Morris (Bread) for Channel 4's The Games but he bottled it after the Gymnastics! Never got to see the fruits of my labours on telly!

If I remember rightly you were the winner of the senior ladies event at Watford? Nice to see you online - I hope we can learn from you and you can learn from some of the bods on here too! All the best, James.
