After the throws challenge held at javfest4 I boldly said that we would look to hold jav fest 5 this year (2007) in september at Bedford.
Do you the members wish for us(me) to organise this, or at least look into organising this or are you happy with the one festival a year?
To be perfectly honnest i have left it very late to get this moving really..but if you would like for me to look into it i shall!
The last festival was a great success and we at JCUK would like to keep providing the members with this kind of atmosphere we have so far been able to achieve!
I am very keen to try and move the festivals to javelin's spiritual home from now on, Eton has been a great venue but i think we all know that javelin mecca (Bedford) is calling us to "come home"
your throughts on this whole thing are welcome

Bedford would be the place mate IMO. As great a place Eton is, people throw far at bedford and I would like to see international athletes get invites to this meet eventually. Then UKA may think about having an international throws fest there! I'm talking to a few people at the moment about various things and I mentioned your jav fest and using bedford as a carrot to invite or pesuade national teams to bring some of their athletes over like a Halle type throws meet which I believe is possibly UKA will go for but it has to be at bedford as people generaly throw far there. I read that there is a meet in croatia in couple of weeks when this wulc be an ideal opp to have a throws meet over here. I actually thought having a throws meet the week or two after halle would be about right as this is when poeple want to get early season marks in.
Bedford definately is the way forward I think.

Yeah I would love you to host another javelin festival as the last two times I couldn't make it !!! CRY!!! ! I think Bedford is a good venue! I think Birmigham would be better like I have said before because it's in the middle and not too far for everyone really, however, I think someone said there was some problems with hosting it there or something! But yeah wherever the venue the Javelin Festival is always going to be a great event!

Anything that extends what seems to be too short a season gets my vote, If another Javfest in arranged for September at Bedford Ryan will certainly go.

Gotta be done peeps.... Nice Bar for tea and biscuits at the end..... How about a Coaching Session for the young ones, and learning Coaches. Slinger with a blackboard going through all the terminology? Video analysis at the end of the throwing sessions, and all sorts of goodies? How about a team comp, handicapped somehow, to finish of the day? Just a few thoughts!

That is an awsome idea!! Really is!!
That will spice it up a bit!! Will make us learn and have fun at the same time! Also I am really liking the technical analysis and terminology! It will help eveyone understand our faults and improve on them! that would be a really good day and pluss GOODIES! TEAM COMPS! that is an idea well thinking about!

Nice idea - any chance of holding it a bit further North - would love to compete but to do so would cost £2-300 - sheffield of Bham may be ok??

Mnay years ago there used to be the braintree throws meewt in september adn basically eery good thorwer in teh south would attend. That's where I first met Steve Backley. I think and and of seaosn meet would be a great idea and people would attend. The thing about Bedofrd is that it is a special palce to throw where people always throw pb's/

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Bedford is a Principality in the Adriatic Sea and is twinned with the Sea of Tranquility on the Moon. Multimap Link
