sam - maybe 7 weeks or so ago, maybe a little less.
chris - to put weight on just eat a lot, a real lot. a long time a go i read abit about bodybuilding and from what i remember you literally have to eat mega to get big, if you want to increase your muscle mass then i'm sorry but you are going to have to train like a dog and eat like a horse!!! ;D i think bodybuilders aim to have an intake of something like 1 - 2g of protein per pound of bodyweight, after listening to nutritionists recently at a few seminars non suggest anything like that amount of protein for ATHLETES please bare in mind.
calories wise - just count what you eat now daily and up it abit till you are seeing gains.
training keep it real simple - little cardio, but lots of heavy lifting, keep the ex's real simple too and go for 8 - 12 reps, building the sets as you go, ensure the weight you lift is within that bracket range of rep numbers, remembering once you can lift that weight for more than 12 or so put some more weight on or up it another set - although different body parts may take more training than others to respond well.
train hard, eat more than you could ever think possible then diet off the fat.
don't do drugs.........job done.

get your own thread started sam, it gives you an extra incentive and once you say you are going to do it and put it on a international open forum like this, you'll feel like you don't want to look like a t1t if you give up ;D

with new spears ordered, i'm going to the track to get in some practise in readyness for the new arrivals tbh, i'm really only going to get a some run up check marks measured, for next weeks comp - i have one session to sort out a run up - great!!!! oh well, nevermind it's not that difficult tbh. i'll take a spear or two with me and i might even have a little dabble chucking whilst i'm there, hey, it'd be rude not - after all the sun is shining and the sky is blue.........

back from my session and run up is done and dusted! wasn't that hard, no need to worry at all ;D i do wonder why people fret about sorting out run ups here goes the session - my warm up isn't what i'd reccomend as it doesn't consist of much tbh, you see i feel as if i did a warm up like i used to i'd be too tired for the actual session, so it's basically 200m or so jogging with little footdrills and arm windmilling - you know what i mean, a little stretching and maybe 20 or so little flickies from walking into it through to 50m throws off a very slow longish approach still in trainers......i think i know myself well enough to know when i'm ready and warm enough to throw. i thought i'd have a few standing throws too, as H mentioned it the other day, my best was just under 41m today - i hate standing throws tbh as i feel for me at least i'm recruiting my body bits in the wrong order and too much emphasis is on the top half and i find because of this they feel wrong and very odd. i then had maybe 6 or 8 5 stride throws from a withdrawl and threw pretty much what my best ever is again, so that was good, 60m off 5 isn't far away i think.
i then took it back a wee bit and straight away threw low 60's first chuck, then went 65 off a short slow approach and tbh i did peach it, steel champion too, which is unusual for me.
i then split my right hand index finger open a wee bit and as a result i couldn't get a proper grip on the binding and the chalk i use was making the bloody cut sting! - it's funny how after only 3 sessions my old familar war wounds re-appear! - i always used to split that finger and also hurt my left big toe [the nail would eventually drop off] when blocking and that came back the other day too ;D oh well, it's all part of the game i guess.
so essentially it was session over after that, i did try and throw on but i wasn't getting any "hit" and the jav wasn't jumping out of my hand, i knew what the problemwas, it wasn't just my finger being sore it was that my throwing arm wasn't turning up and in and going high over my shoulder - on my good throws this happens well and i get some real bite on the thing, because of a longer higher pull, but if my arm comes in a little short then i know straight away as it feels rubbish and as if i'm hitting the thing as hard as i can but there's nothing on it, or certainly nothing like there should be on it.
i might have one more throwing sesh before javfest, but i'm undecided......i want to give my finger some time to heal tbh.
oh yeah, 79.6kg this morning guys

Sounds very promising to me fella, i wish i could be at javfest to see the mighty comeback I just came back from a throwing sesh myself and i'm pleased to report a new 5 stride pb of 59.50m. I came in pretty easy but it turned out to be my best technical throw ever, blocked the absolute hell out of it and flighted it nicely too i even did one of those Zelezny style tumbles and watched it from over my shoulder as i lay on my back just behind the line....it was absolute pure poetry in motion. Shame is i still can't do that off a full runup, anyway not bad for the 4th outdoor session but little by little.
