79 kilos in my adult life, but i was in awesome shape at that weight, this was about 3 weeks before i hurt my back in 2002....it was nice that lasher commentated on my "six pack" at the weekend and backley [who i have seen to speak to for years] said i looked in shape ;D
i was about 82 maybe 83 when i threw my PB in 2000 and when i last threw in 2004, not too far short of my PB i maybe weighed 86/87kg.
i think i may have more muscle mass [not much though] that i used to, my legs are in better shape and my arms aren't too far behind what they used to be.
my waist is just under 33'' and my chest is 47'' i think have quite a small bone structure [6.5" wrist] so i think if i get down to below 80kg my waist might get as low as 31"
so i'm getting there i think.

You probably shouldn't aim to be below 79kg then or your body fat levels will get too low and you will be alot more prone to illness etc
I have a six pack at 88kg so you can imagine how i looked at 79kg given that i'm not only taller but also a bit bigger built than you are , i was pretty much sporting the refugee look!

only time will tell to how low i go, i know what i want to look like, the actual numbers are irrelevant really, it really boils down to the look and how i feel - i'm guessing that somewhere in the 70's is where that lies. time wise i'm probably another 6 weeks or so away from that, give or take a few crap cheat days and weekends with the boys

Can we please have the weights in stones or pounds as well. Kilos don't "paint a picture" for those of us who were adults in the pre "boy band" era.
Cheers ;D

hi jezza, sorry about the kilos ;D erm let me have a look..........according to this mate www.weightlossresources.co.uk/body_weight/weight_converter.htm i was 207lbs or 14.8 stones [94kg] and now i am 185.2lbs or 13.2 stones [84.0kg this morning and this afternoon] SO, that equates to a loss of 1.6 stones or 22.1lbs [10kg] in about 5 and half weeks........i'll be somewhere in the 83 kg [183lbs and 13 stone] bracket by the weekend. hi jiunlin, how do i lose the weight so fast? well, tbh this is the first time i have tried to lose weight and tbh i find it quite easy, the key is really to be organised ie always have the right foods in the house at all times, so you basically aren't tempted to cheat more than you want to - in a word organisation. i also find jiunlin, by eating smaller meals more often helps, as it helps keep the metabolism ticking over. i have a very active job too which helps and i've also started to do a few bits and bobs gym wise - nothing much, just some light curls, pull ups a little bench press - that sort of thing, nothing specific to javelin as i don't intend to throw ;D i think i could have been down to maybe 82 or so if i hadn't have had some very poor weekends of eating too, as i once went backwards by 2 kilos in a single weekend of serious binge eating and the dreaded beer! but i'm pleased with my progress, as results are very noticeable daily, so i must be doing it right somewhere ;D

I want to put some ON! NOT lose it, which I think is harder than losing it!? Strangely I find it easier in the week to eat more, and harder at the weekends!

Good work Slinger! Keep up the hard work - you'll be size 00 and in all the ladies mags before you know it!
I've also lost a lot of weight and am really feeling the benefits. Was 14 stone 9lbs 3 weeks after my knee surgery (start of October) and am now consistently 13 stone 6. Have been eating similar things have really just increased the intensity of my training. The loss is a mixture of muscle mass and body fat and my training has meant that I've got lighter while getting stronger.
Look forward to seeing the new sleaker Slinger at JavFest!

Chris it sounds like you are an ectomorphic body type- that means if you want to gain weight and in particular muscle mass you need to take the hard gainer approach en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HardgainerIt means in practical terms high volume/ high intensity training- eg not 3 sets of 5 reps of clean with 3 min break but 5 sets of 10 reps with 2 min breaks. It would also be of particular help for you to take creatine before and after training and also protein drinks straight away after training. eg within 30 mins. Most spear chuckers are Mesomorphic types- whos bodies respond quickly to short bursts of intense training- but this carries the disadvantage of high injury risk so its not all roses. One more thing its not all doom and gloom for the ectomorph- i can think of one person who has that characteristic who has done pretty damn well for himself. Mr Pitkämäki! (although he has some other very desirable charcterisitcs like fantastic mobility and elasticity) it just means you need to train mega hard to get there, but the chances are your body will be better at taking the training than most peoples.

Slinger,
Thanks for the "conversions" and well done on your weight loss. Is there a boy band convention in the NorthWest?
Chris (LBA40),
To put on weight eat 400g galaxy and 1 tub of haag n daas per night for a month. And keep up the training, increasing the sit ups and ab work. I say this because I gave up these 2 enjoyable food items for 2 weeks and lost 21 pounds in weight (the reverse of what you're trying to do)! Let me know how you get on! Or eat a few bags of monstermunch out of a bucket without your hands tied behind your back!!!
Jimbo,
Take all the advice you can on the rehab knee work. My reconstruction ACL was 4 years ago and my knee still isn't right and never will be, so don't follow my example and get onto the Lasher (and check on Louise to see how she's getting on)
Over and out
Jezza

Thanks for the suggestions - my knee rehab knowledge is reasonably extensive after 7 times of trying. This time has been my best though with the biggest procedure I've undergone but the best recovery. Have always managed to throw within 3/4 weeks of an arthroscopy but was harder this time around - still, I'm there now as I hope my throwing will show in the coming weeks. Getting in a pool was the best thing I did this time around given that I wasn't supposed to put any weight on my leg for the first month.
