I’m interested in what your weights pb’s are in comparison to your throw pb, my jav pb is 63m and my main weights pb’s which I max on are:
Clean – 110k Snatch - 92k Back Squat – 180k Front Squat – 155k Neck Press – 72k Up Right Row - 70k Bench – 127k
I believe the top guys have cleans over 140/150k, snatches over 120k, so I’m not overly strong but my weights are not bad for my size and I’ll continue to keep getting stronger but how important are these figures?…. as I first went over 60m when I was 17 and had been using machine weights (2 weeks later I had an ankle op, and still have the problem now). I would say I’m strong enough at the moment to get to 70m but have to improve technically…and get injury free.

the only things i really push for a pb in are back squat 175kg Bench 95.5kg bent arm pullovers 40kg x 10 this winter i have been doing lots of cleans and snatches at 60kg for speed and strength. My jave pb is 52.80m.... i have only been doing wieights properly this winter and a i messed around with them last winter...

Mine as follows:
Clean - 135kg Snatch - 100kg Pullover - 85kg Squat - 240kg Deadlift - 195kg Front Push Press - 120kg Behind Neck Press - 100kg Bench - 140kg
4kg overhead - 21.50m 7kg overhead - 16.80m SLJ - 2.99M 30M - 3.66 secs
Its all relative. Being strong is good but can you convert that strength into power. How strong do you have to be to throw an 800gm spear. Bear in mind that the very top guys (some of whom are capable of snatching 150kg, Clean 180kg etc) are genetic freaks and are outside of the norm.
I for one have perhaps too much upper body power for which my technique can at times struggle to handle. The moral is strong and powerful is good only if your technique can handle it!!

Hi All... this is my first post. I am a wimp compared to most of the guys I throw against. Clean – 70k Snatch - 65k Back Squat – 240k x 3, max ? Bench – 80k 30m - 3.45sec OHS - 14m'ish I am a big guy...... not really a six pack.. more of a barrel , but I can hit the jav well and put the strength (what little I have) in to the throw. So it all depends how you move the strength from the run up speed, through the legs up the body and in to the arm and out in to the jav. I hope to see most of you this year throwing far and injury free. ;D

I'm afraid I can't compete with your weight's PBs but was interested to see that someone else can also jump! Does anyone else here compete in a range of events? I end up doing 7-11 events per match for my club, perhaps one reason why my javelin progress has halted. My athletics PBs are:
JT: 57.80m DT: 35m HJ: 1.95m TJ: 13.55m LJ: 6.42m 110H: 16.2 5K: 17m52s 10K: 37m40s Marathon: 3h50m

Disc 36m16 Shot 13m51 Hammer 36m?? Pole Vault 1m20 Tripple 11m02
Just another question.......
What is the max weight you can put on a 20kg bar.
Tonight I lifted a new PB in the squat 250kg (2x reps) and the bar was bending, how much heavier can I go with out damaging the bar?
