Lifted from another website; I dare say some will agree and some will disagree......that's what forums are for.

Post subject: How to train & avoid knee, back, shoulder, elbow surgery!
Now aged 46, with over 600 cpmpetitions under my belt, 36 years of competing, two Olympic Games and two World Records I have yet to have a single surgery and in my event that is unheard of. I also have spina bifida.
A lot of people have been asking me about what are the best exercises for throwers. I believe the best single lower body exercise for all athletes not just throwers is the "jump squat". I also believe that the only thing that matters is that you leave the ground - even if it is only a quarter of an inch. For this to happen you must achieve full extenetion in the joints in the lower body and you therefore fully engage the fast muscle fibres to do that. Right? Especially when you have a lot of weight on your back.
Here is a YouTube Training/ Demo Video I just put up to demonstratre the "Jump Squat" :

Anyone care to agree or disagree?
The second Training /Demo YouTube video is the dumbbell pullover. I believe this is the best single upper body exercise for javelin throwers and great for all throwers and any athlete as part of a well balanced strength program.
Once again I would like to mention that I have never had a single shoulder or elbow problem - ever - no surgeries - nothing. Here is the YouTube Link:
