So far not much has been said about JavFest 6 on here which is mostly my fault as I've been quite busy but I wanted to get people's ideas on the day.
For the record, I'd say it was a good day despite below optimal weather conditions.
I was hoping that there would be some comment on this on the UKA site or Athletics Weekly - I sent them the following text in the hope that they might want to report Freya's national record among other things:
JavFest 6 @ Milton Keynes
On Saturday 19th we held our 6th Javelin Festival at Milton Keynes. Despite some rain and strong winds there some very noteable performances.
In the morning, Freya Jones of Team Southampton surpassed the previous UK record with a throw of 41.50m. This is only the second competition Freya has competed in this season and shows promise to improve that distance by a number of metres through this season. Freya also won a strong U17 event later in the day with a throw of 39.34m.
At the same time, Thomas Peters won the U13 boys competition with a throw of 45.00m close to his recently set national record. He also went on to win the U15 boys event, throwing the 600g javelin 39.95m - a javelin he will still be throwing until the end of the 2010 season!
Bonne Buwembo went to the top of the U20 men's rankings with a fine personal best winning performance of 65.98m. The U20 event was the competition most affected by rain but Buwembo came through this to post more than 2.5m on his previous PB.
Mervyn Luckwell produced a season's best of 72.15m to win the senior men's event. This is over 2m further than his season opener and around 6m further than he threw at last year's early season JavFest 4.
Other winners included Sadie Watts in the U20 women's event with 40.09m just ahead of Robyn Jade Purchase setting a personal best 39.73m for second. In the senior women's event, Lianne Clarke threw 46.57m to beat Rosie Semenytsh into second place in a rain affected competition. Matti Mortimore won the U17 men's event which is affected largely by wind closely followed by Bradley Burr who set a big personal best of 55.10m.

Maybe something will appear soon, I am sure that these people are aware of it as the results went onto Powerof10 before I even sent them off.
Sam and I should also thank a number of people for the day because a lot of people put a lot of effort in to make the comps possible. Apologies for anyone I leave out. So thanks to:
Chris, Sadie and all at MK including officials for their help from before we arrived until after we left. Also MK for the use of the track and opening up for food and drink for us.
John (Merv's coach), Sadie, Steve and Debbie for helping during the competitions.
Lucy and Anna for taking all the entries.
Anyone else I have forgotten.
Everyone for travelling a long way in many cases to compete.
So finally - does anyone have any ideas for next seasons early season competition which will be JavFest 8 or JavFest 7 at the end of this season - most likely in September?
Cheers, James
