I've just updated the news section of the JavFest 6 site with the entries we've received so far: www.thejavelinclub.com/jf6news.html30 entries 5 weeks before the event is excellent - way in excess of previous years. If you are planning to come, please get your entry in so we can ensure we have allowed enough time for each age group and all throwers to have 6 throws per age group. Any suggestions as always, let me know. James

That is excellent news! I'm sure we will end up with a record amount and hopefully in the future we will have to make this a two day event! I'm seeing something along the lines of juniors and seniors on a saturday and the youth age groups on a sunday. If we end up with a lot of youngsters this time around it might make sense to pool them so we can have two comps going on at the same time.. Chris do you know how long the infield is?

most infields are similar length.
tbh though it wouldn't be ideal having two going on from either end, don't you think - even it's 2 groups of 30-40m throwers, not worth risking imo.
what you need for that kind of situation is a venue with a separate run up located not on the actual track.

Yeah, I'm not sure throwing from both ends at once is a good idea especially from the point of view of spectators. I mean, we wanrt everyone to be involved with the competition and supporting the athletes so 2 comps at once will take the edge away.
We can always split age groups out according to the number of entrants we get. The current timetable is based on the number of participants we've typically had in each age group previously but can be adjusted as necessary.
This is why its important we get entries as soon as possible!!
