Right, I need to choose when and how I am getting down.
I can either fly to Luton or Stanstead. Even with hiring a car there is no difference in the cost. My choices are as follows:
Luton Fly down Friday night. Stay in Bedford (sad and lonely). Fly back Saturday night (cos you are all miserable and no-one is coming out). or fly back Sunday and spend another sad night at a hotel.
Stansted Fly down Saturday. Hire a car. Fly back Saturday night (cos you are all miserable and no-one is coming out). or fly back Sunday and spend another sad night at a hotel.
I am favouring the in and out on Saturday option.
Whaddya reckon?

Hiya,
I'm guessing that Luton airport isn't too many miles away so if you can time the flights right it may be possible for you to get a lift instead of hiring a car? If you arrive early enough I am happy to pick you up and take you to Bedford - however I am hoping to be in Bedford for 9am (or there abouts) when the track opens to get sorted. If there is a flight coming in before that then give me a shout by PM or email and we can get something sorted.
Re: beer. Apologies there's not the normal get together afterwards however if you fancy a trip back to your old area in Essex that night, Sam and I may well be hitting sunny Southend for a night out!

That's Jim. Saufend, now there's a blast from the past. If I go out there, I'll probably end up staggering to my ould flat, wouldn't that be embarassing! The problem with Luton is I need to leave from Glasgow which means leaving here at 4:45am for the 7am flight. The flight to Stansted is 2 miles from my front door, so I can lie in until 7am and get to Stansted for 9:30! I was thinking of staying over and going to the Orsett Show, but I'm a week late for that. Oops! I am, of course, miffed that there isn't a night out after all that expense and travelling. I shall continue to sulk!

No after Fest drinks/meal?? Why on earth not? There is a bar onsite, with non alchoholic refreshments too. We could go for a meal........surely this has to be more than just turn up and throw, then go home?? Its a Fest innit? Or is it just me that would love for us all to have a good day of it? Might stay in now, and watch eastenders and wash my hair...or something!

I'll be in the bar sipping my orange juice until it's time to go to the airport!

Patience ,
I once drove from heathrow to glasgow, then to Fort William, then to Scaffel Peak, the to Ben nevis, in a white van that wouldn't go more than 67mph, all in 24 hours!
Surely bedford's not that far. And I'm sure the boys staying over would look after you well!
;D ;D

Thank you for your wonderful insight into your marvellous driving prowess, Jeremy. You are very welcome to your long drives. I am not driving to Bedford on a Friday. Last time that took more than 12 hours. 3 days away for one competition is too excessive. The boys aren't staying over. Flying it is.
