Looking at your list of foods, you need to beware of the 'portion' amounts. A portion is a very vague amount of food.... (and I remember your portion sizes in Finland, Sam!!) ;D
To calorie count properly you should really weigh what you are eating - for example, you cited 75 calories for pasta... that would be about 2 oz, which is a really tiny amount. I would reckon a more realistic portion would be nearer 4oz (cooked), which of course doubles your calories at one fell swoop!
Also, the amount of carbs in the list you mention is huge! Fruit contains vast amounts of carbs, and men particularly lose weight very easily and quickly by cutting down on carbs. I did a quick count up using a different website to the one you mentioned... my total for you was about 2500 calories... but 351 grammes of carbs!! Hence no weight loss I guess!
My recommendation would be if you are going the calorie (or carb) route is to religiously weigh everything.. a few grammes here or there will make a huge difference over a day!

It isn't just about Food. You can easily double your Calorie intake with Alcohol, particularly strong beer. Then you would be nothing like 'Grow Beer'!

Sam, one thing i notice during this thread you continuously refer to 'the diet' and going on and off it.
For any weight loss to be sustainable it has to be a total change of eating regime so it means you eat that way all the time forever! There is no coming on or off because if you do come 'off' then you will just get back to where you started!!!!
That isn't to say that you can't change your diet, just so long as you keep it sensible its actually good to eat a variety of foods just don't overload on the fatty ones.

when i say i come off it i mean that i have a "bad" meal at the weekend where during the week i have good evening meals
i guess you could call it the "treat" meal

I have acheived a milestone...
all diets i have been on in the past have lasted no longer than a month because i get bored.
this time around i have it planned out perfectly to the point that i don't want to "cheat" mid week and if someone offers me something i should not be having then i get really defensive and tell them to take it away.
i am 1 month 6 days into the diet now i feel comfortable on my feet now although i know i will feel even more comfortable as the months go by.
I was set a target of fitting into a waist coat for james's wedding in july, back in january and although i started to do soem work on getting into it i never really mustered the motivation..
i haven't tried it on since jan (it's kept by lucy his fiancee) but i am certain that it will fit me properly now...
my throwing is good and i am finding training easier despite the fact that i am not getting as much sleep as i should be because i get to bed so late and up so early (but not as early as the posties in here). if i can sort out my sleep patterns i am sure that my training and throwing will get even better.
at the start of the diet i was finding it hard to get close to 50m off 7/9 steps in training.. now i am throwing 53/54m in training off 9 steps. my arm feels faster and i am finding that i can get more of a drive off my left leg without feeling like i am anchored to the floor.
this weekend i am hoping that i will be able to further my SB (51.41m) and get myself even closer to the magical (for me) 55m as it has been 2 years since i threw my pb 54.93m
weigh in is either friday mornign or saturday morning depending on how i feel mentally about it..

yesterday i further increased my SB to 52.76m to finish 7th at the south of england champs.
my next comp will be at the Eastern Region Champs on the 6th of July and i hope to throw as far as i was in warm up yesterday (55m..i'm told)
I want to lose another 13lbs by the start of august to bring me down to 16st and then another stone by october so that i start my winter training the lightest i have been for 8 years

cheers tom
not sure i would have done it if it hadn't been for my GF. she has really sorted my head out regarding the diet and i find it easy o stay on the good stuff and easier to stay off the bad stuff unless she allows me to.

this week i have done no training so i can let my body recover from the last 3 weeks of harder training i have been doing.
I was hurting a lot from sunday's competition too and have had really bad hayfever all week.. worse than ever before.
i have maintained my diet so i should at best be hoping for no weight to have gone on this week.
next week the GF and I shall be embarkign on runs around her local park, which i am looking forward to. we used to go running around her road (which is just under a mile in length) but that was too hard on the joints
today i have got rice with peas, tomato and cucumber with tuna on the top of it... the tuna has got sweet chilli sauce mixed into it..

paranoia is not a good thing i have found..
today i am certain i am fatter.. i feel bigger... my gf says i look slimmer still.. is my mind playing tricks on me to keep me on the diet.. or is it something more??
yesterday i didn't get as much energy intake as i needed, after my session on the cross trainer i nearly passed out.. maybe i pushed myself too hard or maybe it WAS the lack of sufficient useable energy in my system. it rendered me almost incapable from finishing the rest of my session.
today has started the same as always with porridge.. lunch is rice with peas, egg, tomato, cucumber and some low fat chicken saussage chopped up and mixed into it. I also have 4 apples for snacks during the day. This month i have struggled with finances and have had to cut down on the fruits.. so i have not been able to bring in mixed fruit salads or any low calorie snacks food for the day.
My next league match is not untill late july or even august so i have much more time to get myself into a better rythmn for that.. i need to work on my speed as that should be easier not maintain now that i am lighter.
