I assume most of you like myself are a one arm show. How much do we do to try and find balance and what is an acceptable ratio of throwing:non-throwing arm?
does anyone throw with both arms in a session or reserve a special session of what??

I always throw at least 1 per session with my left. Did a few today, had a comp with Sam, Bonne and Mark. Stuck mine in around 35m although I have thrown 44m with an 800 in comp when my right elbow was operated on.
Doing drills the "wrong way round" can be beneficial.
Did you say your right arm was twice the size though? My arms are the same size just my left is more flexible at the elbow joint.

lol effort! I'm probably the same and I'm not helped by the fact that i caught my left thumb in a door when i was wee and stunted its growth. I'm trying to play ampedexurous( >:(can't spell that...)basketball though and do slighty more med ball throws off the left.

i think the actual throwing using the left arm isn't too important, by all means throw left handed but other drills and exercises are easier and perhaps more beneficial........saying that zelezny could throw 67m left handed and alekna can throw the discus over 55m... performing run throughs, both normal with a carry and those from a withdrawl are essential to all javelin throwers and should be done both right handed and left handed, they are usually done as a warm up or in the summer they can be done as part of a session prior to competing, as for ratios i did them one right, one left and so on - so they were equal, 50 - 50. on the subject of alternate sides etc when doing medi ball ex's especially single handed stuff you should do them both right and left handed - it's the same for plyo's especially odd numbered contact jumps such as STJ, they should be done with alternate leg take off's. foot drills should be done backwards aswell as forwards including backwards running - apparently backwards stuff is one of the very best ankle and Achilles ex's you can do......... ......... what the alternate style or the opposite to usual does is balance the body evenly - you wouldn't do dumbbell curls for just your right arm would you??? it also makes you more aware of what you are doing with your less dominant side so when performing any skill based activity it allows your "body awareness" to help you understand what you just did and therefore help you to know what to do to imrove...........
