yeah i've been on it before, but to be honest i haven't really looked at it in depth, maybe i'll look when i have abit of spare time!!! back at work later so won't get chance today, me thinks! i hope he [steve] has the desire to coach javelin properly at more of a national level........i know he helps goldie, but just think how good he and mick could be together at looking after the javelin throwers in the UK..........steve was at the national squads a while back so maybe he is getting involved with it already i don't know, i have no doubts that he and mick can pass on a wealth of valuable knowledge and experience to other coaches around the UK and bring them up to speed on a few things! - i'm sure even the most blinkered and single minded of people will listen to those two!!! maybe them being 6'3'' and 6'5'' would have something to do with it!!!! ;D seriously though they are both such top blokes who actually listen to what you have to say and most importantly they are just funny to be around!!! they've played some great gags on a slinger i'll tell you.........good job i have a very good sense of humour!!!!!!!

Mick is actually the Talent Development Manager for the North East, and he work will cover the area which stretches from Gateshead to Loughborough. His office will almost certainly be in Leeds at Carnegie although that is not a definite at yet.
He will not directly be working with the Javelin Throw however he is coaching a few individuals including myself at present and I know he plans to carry on doing that.
In an ideal world i know that he would love to work with the Javelin on a regular basis, but time is at a premium and with a family to support this is difficult.
If everybody knew Mick as well and Phill and myself do you would realise that this is the case, however until the corrupt system rights itself in this country then we will never have our best coaches around as often as we would like as the finance to get them there is just not in place!

so steve DOES charge for his schedules!!!!! which is fair game i suppose, the guy has to live and pay the bills at the end of the day, just like every bugger else! other coaches do similar as well, which again is fair as it takes a hell of a lot of learning and time to put these schedules together, my only gripe and it's only a small one is how can a coach without actually seeing first hand what's going on change things appropriately - i have had first hand experience of this - the feedback from athlete to coach to athlete must and needs to be very clear and understood for it to have any chance of it working.........i know recently i've planned things but changed them because things weren't right - what i mean is that if i let them happen a problem might of arose, hopefully because i've seen it early enough it won't.......................but i'm very sure steve has put masses of time towards his venture and will of thought of ways to overcome any problems.........i wish him the best of luck! - it beats working for a living!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D - a round of golf again today steve!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

has anyone gone ahead with 'buying' into the PAC system???
i'm not totally sure how you can give someone a schedule and not see them doing it, quite often when we are doing things i change things last minute as i either see it's not working and do something else as not to waste time.......
i am keen however on the CD rom thingy, which shows all the exercises etc as any info from backley is good info and yes we may have done some of the stuff before i'm sure there's loads of stuff we in the UK haven't seen yet........

it's not cheap....look at it this way..
spen all that mony on that or pay ofr travel and equipment for training/competing and have the watchfull eye of your own coach make the right comments to help you improve
i'm not convinced by it at all...

at the end of the day it's just a regime for conditioning and not advice on technical aspects of your sport, improving your general speed, agility, power, strength etc etc is the same for all sports..........but a watchful eye will be lacking and so will immediate feedback...........put it this way if backley was there himself telling you what to do i'm sure you'd learn and benefit more than if he just sent you a sheet of paper with a list of ex's to do - you can't beat one on one actual coaching can you???
it's not too expensive, compared to actual personal trainers is it??? at little more than £1.90/week if you pay for the year it is good value and i'm sure most people spend more than that on lottery tickets [did the euro on fri. - first time i've ever done the lotto AND won - nothing!!!!! damn you lotto!!!! ;D] my feelings are that if you buy the CD then at least you can see the stuff and then pick what things, if any you think will work for you for what ever particular reason, plus for those who don't have coaches then it could be the only sort of help they do get so i'm staying very open minded about it....
