With my winter training now underway I thought i should set myself some bench marks so i can monitor my progress through the cold winter months! I'm going to test myself using: Quadrathlon test www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/quad.htmMedicine ball javelin quadrathlon test www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/medballquad.htmMy results for September 05 are: OH Shot (7.26kg) = 12.18m (49 points) Standing LJ = 2.58m (71 points) 3 Bunny Hops = 7.80m (61 points) 30m Sprint (Hand timed) = 3.82s (59points) Total 240 points. 2kg Standing Throw = 14.82 (8 points) 3kg Standing Throw = 13.65 (10 points) 2kg 3 Step Throw = 16.93 (9 points) 3kg 3 step Throw = 13.98 (9 points) Total 36 points (Uk best is apparantly 66 points, world best is 76) I'm afraid I don't train with anyone else from the forum so you'll have to take my word that they're accurate but to be honest if I was going to cheat i'd have performed better than that!!! Be interested to see how I compare with everyone else.

Thats a good start Jim. Plenty to work on there and with hard work you should see some satisfying improvements.
I think though your medball etst scores are a tad low and perhaps this is something you can work on. To give some perspective a couple of years ago I did some similar medball tests. To compare 3kstanding was 20m and loose change, and 2k standing was 26m (achieved this winter). I know that one of my strengths is chucking medballs but perhaps something for you to work towards.
Hope it helps

Cheers Tom, I must admit i was a bit dissapointed with my medicine ball throws i've thrown much further than that during our training sessions . Still it's a place to start and i'm now doing a full medicine ball session before circuit training every week so i would hope to see some significant improvement over the winter. Lets just hope it transfers to the spear! Your standing throws are massive just looking at the points tables even if you threw the same with 3 steps as standing you'd score 72 points which according to the web site would be a UK best!!
