Bloody pretty much the worst wind you can get for you right handers! Glad to see someone knows what a "bad" wind is for a right handed thrower

if you check the website and then look on the entry form you'll see that all those who throw over 25m are on at 3pm. It's a mixed gender pool.

Beware Throwers.........
Sandy is notorious for the volume of athletes who enter.... and worse turn up!!!!!
The Hammer the last two years, has started 1.5 hrs late and had 20+ competitors. Expect only 3 throws....
I will be there, twirling the hammer thingy. Plus I'll have DVD's with me....

lol..
Malcolm
The years that i have gone the minimum we have had is 4 throws. Javelin has the benefit of being the last long throws event of the day so there is always room in the schedule.
Last year there was a guy from USA there throwing called Steven Pierce (sp) who was on the come back from a Tommy J op. Threw 60-62m on the day. there was about 15 throwers but the comp flowed smoothly.
Remember it's the throwers who generally hold the comp up by not being ready when they are called. If you learn the order of throws you can help the comp flow

On the subject of poor scheduling at comps. I threw in my last of the season on tuesday. It was supposed to be at 1700 then i was told 1930 but didn't eventually get onto the runway until 2030! It was wet, x wind and dark! Of course the only floodlights there were pointed at the football pitch.
It was crazy and annoying but in the end quite fun as most people slinked off home after round 1 but 4 of us stayed to fight it out in the dark. Couldn't see my checkmark or the line and had to keep all my kit on because of the cold but still managed to throw a 58 and a 59m and beat two 70m guys so something must have been alright on the night...

Yeah it doesn't sound like big distances but given the situation it was pretty decent and i consider it my best performance for a while.
Sometimes all you have to do is keep your head screwed on and ignore whats going on around you. It always amazes me how badly some very talented people can fall to pieces when conditions are poor or if they get distracted.
Who did you manage to scalp this year the mate? i know youve been consistently hitting 70m this season which is a nice level to stay on especially when the going gets tough...
Whats your plan for this winter season? I might try to get myself back in-line, i must admit i've fallen off the radar a bit and have been having some negative thoughts. Time for one last haul maybe and attain a few unfullfilled personal goals...

to be fair wez you have had some major obstructions. Elbow, knee and having a baby. I think you are forgiven for letting the jav take the back seat for a while!

H- Is the secret plan by any chance to get a sex change and recreate yourself as Christine Bluff world No.1 ;D That would be one sure way to get an edge on the competition. ;D ;D ;D Seriously though about my own performance, i've been hugely dissapointed and sure there have been a few hurdles in my way and some bad luck to boot but excuses don't get you results so if i'm to make an impression on the rankings it will be only from my own dedication. With my new parental lifestyle thats going to mean getting up at 6am and giving up lunchtime to fit in my training. Where theres a will there is a way. On a positive note i did go to a proper sport physio last week (also a Pitkämäki btw)and with some heavy manipulations i seem to have regained about 30% mobility in my right shoulder and upper back which has been bugging me for the last few years. That really does feel like a new lease of life and i am much more loose and elastic now. The ironic thing is that i wasn't even aware i had a problem, thought i was just a bit stiff because my left side had been ok so i could more or less get into the right positiions to throw. It was my girlfriend who persuaded me to go because she said i wasn't moving right. I have to admit it was €70 well spent!
