whats cvc doing? He used to be her coach, you would have thought he would have made sure she at least trained at it.
The fact that Jessica is not down having thrown 46m so far suggests Kelly has put herself forward for it?

looks to be the highest standard as a group on average men for a few years now .

doogie, we've had the Sotherton debate before, but, I've thought on this and the only rationale I can come up with is that, they want to accustom her psychologically to throwing short in front of a big crowd in a field far better than her.
That's actually a serious suggestion : however poor she may be, she still needs to be able to produce the best that she can under difficult conditions.
I'm not saying I agree with it, but it is one possible explanation.

You may well have a point there Pembrokian, had not considered it that way.
I heard a rumour that she has not been making it to sessions with the coach for jav - does anyone know if that is true?
A big women's field though which is good news, really does seem to have been a good push on throwers through the mid 40s this season and I am sure some good progress on previous years in that respect.

does sort of make sense - think we are all just frustrated for such a physically gifted athlete to have regressed in this one event since 2003/2004 - it is almost as she has resigned to having this one week event.
On the mens side lets say Merv wins with 75m will he go to Berlin as he has the A standard? If he was to loose how would this effect things?

well James Campbell won the U23 nationals with 70.07m when the standard is 75m although he has thrown over 75m previously. he has been selected. I should imagine merv will go to berlin as he has thrown 81.05m, 80.06m, 79.75m and 78.82m all of which are either over the B standard or the A standard
