Today I found out that a lad who trained with my group for a couple of years - he left us last year for GCSEs and other sports - has had a tragic accident and fallen from a cliff in Cornwall. I won't say who he was, as his name hasnt been released yet. He wasnt a great thrower, but his enthusiasm and his sweet personality charmed everyone who met him.
He was just 16 with his whole life in front of him. He was also the 3rd youngster in a week to have fallen from these cliffs, 2 of who died, the other is in intensive care.
Tragic, no words to describe it really.

Caroline,
So sorry to read such sad news.
'They' always say the good die young. Tragically that is often the case.
Being half Cornish, I know the cliffs around Land's End very well and they claimed the life of an Aunt of mine in the early '50's. She had two sons, my cousins, who both represented Cornwall at English Schools' level, one at the Sprint hurdles and the other at Cross Country.
Brings back very dim and distant memories.
Best wishes
Phil

A tradegy is every sense of the word.
I am sure that, of the short life he did have, the days he'd spent with you and the gang would have been among his happiest.

Thanks Dave and Phil, those were kind thoughts. Dave, you may have met him... his name was Paddy. (I can say that now that the papers have released at least his Christian name)
