Gary, surely you're not going to let Sam talk to you like that ?
In the words of Charles Atlas, "Don't let him kick sand in your face."

Sticks and stones ..... and whips and chains.... in the words of Mick Hill, comp on! But only if I can throw without having to resort to cleaning my teeth, spraying my armpits and general scratching with my right arm for the rest of my life!
I'm also not going to buy an automatic 'cos my arm is shagged! I will see how it goes but no amount of playground bullying or name calling will change my mind if it goes Pete Tong ;D

Still high 80's are long javelin throws for male athletes - I mean anyone who sees such a feat would not only agree, but be in awe - it's an amazing sight.
God only knows what a 90m throw looks like, nether mind 92/93.....do I need to say 98?
The longest throw I have ever seen in the flesh was Makarov throwing 88.20m in the rain and wind in Gateshead, in if I remember rightly 1999, but it was seeing him throwing 80 flat "boshing it" BIG time off a casual "5"
The last time I was in awe of javelin throwing was unfortunately not in this country, but was in SA warm weather training in January of last year and seeing Pitkamaki throwing in training at an intensity for every single throw that can only be described as "balls out" !!! - 84ish metres was what he was managing on that occasion, but seeing that compared to throwers of only 10m less was huge in the way the javelin was hit - the sheer "hit" on the thing and the difference between the two was huge - I mean in the UK we see a 74m throw and it's a great sight - hell, when I was injured badly just coming out of the junior ranks throwing nearly 72, seeing people, as an observer throwing 65 I thought that looked far!.......never mind throws a whole 20m further that we see in the best meets in the world right now!
So from me, whilst the overall standard is maybe a touch down for whatever reason, it's still spectacular!

Saw Zelezny throw 95m at Sheffield - nearly pee'd my pants! Sam - not going to 'compete' so early as 3 weeks - need time (don't we all - bring on Groundhog Day!). If you can, let me know what's going on in September in terms or Open Meetings or something similar so I can get a mark in before season end. Cheers fella

Biggleswade throws fest is the 6th August and BH in August is a no go for me due to prior plans.
I've just checked the fixture lists on UKA and there's nothing apart from a late one in Cornwall! Need to check diary a try a re-jig to do Peterborough - 7.5 weeks away!!! Cripes, need to do some work. Closing date 14/08 no entries on the day - SM spear on at 11.30 - will work out my microcycles based on starting warm-up at 10am - can't leave any stone unturned! ;D ;D

no biggleswade have an open meeting right at the end of september. I know because i've thrown there twice now. It's usually around the 2nd to last weekend in the month.

Sam - I went onto their site to read their fixture list which showed the throws fest item but no mention of a late September meeting. I'll look them up again and call them to ask if there's a late season event and if so, see you there? I'll let you know the outcome - give me a few days mate.
