Joe - its a good point you make. Personally it is down to the feel of a javelin - a very personal issue as everyone is different. I had all 3 javs, champ, airglider and orbit and tbh I never got on with the orbit at all. For some reason it never felt right.
However, I remember using an orbit that Stu Faben had and I really got with it - unfortunately, that one snapped and I never found another that felt the same.
IMO Champs are an excellent javelin and if you intend to stick with throwing for a while then it last you throughout your development. Whilst the cost may be a bit steep for the initial outlay it will last for a good 5 years.
But make sure you try a range of javs - whilst I had a couple of OTEs and a Nemeth in my inventory I rarely used them as they just didn't feel comfortable.

Ok thanks tom so you need to throw the javs to see which 1 is best for you. I was just wondering for the future when I am throwing longer distances with the 800 in the future

the feel i get from them both [champ and orbit] is that the orbit is a tad stiffer - the champ also seems to want to land point first more so than the orbit at mid range - so 50m-ish imo.

I was Reading an article that said that the orbit is a javelin that will get more lift and go further than the champ but only if thrown right. The champion will always land point first even if not thrown correctly

I would reccomend Nordics if you have any flight problems such as round-arming or dragging the tail, but a nemeth or OTE if you have good, straight flight. Well that's what i've found by experience

Morgan, I notice you won the Cambs Schools junior boys yesterday with 36.67. Congratulations.
What were you throwing yesterday?

Thanks Ivan, i threw a stadium Nordic 50 star and my Nemeth 40, the first throw was with my nemeth 40 and that was 34.33 i think, but i threw better with the star on my second throw of 36.67. both of these had straight flight. YAY! Thanks Ivan, Morgan
