Hi guys, i tore a tendon in my elbow/forearm in july 07, so basically 2 years ago now and am still having problems with it. After the incident occurred i saw the physio for a couple of months and this helped slightly. It gave me nearly full extension of my elbow again without any pain. Then 1 year after the injury in summer 08 i went back to my very first training session just to do some light throwing with some 400g javs. On my very first throw i got the same kind of pain as when i had the first injury a year before, but it wasnt as bad a pain as then. I rested it for a couple months and have recently been to the hopsital to see the orthopedic surgeon to see if he can help me out. He said surgery is not required but i am to have an ultra sound scan in the next couple weeks ( call this a couple years if the normal waiting lists are anything to go by ) .... It's so frustating as even when im messing about throwing a tennis ball e.t.c at college i get a pain in my elbow and its sore for a few days. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same trouble, or if having an ultra sound scan has helped anyone else with an elbow injury? Also any information on how i could try and get this injury sorted out ASAP would be brilliant because ive missed 3 seasons now including this one, and don't want to miss anymore. Any help would be brilliant, Thanks alot.

the ultrasound will show if there are any adhesions or scar tissue getting in the way of the normal movement of the muscles. it should also show any tears there may be.
i would suggest doing work to strengthen your triceps and forearm muscles. also have a look at any footage of your throwing to see if you are round arming the throw..even when throwing a tennis ball. remember the arm is designed to flex in one way only and if you are round arming the throw you will be putting forces down to the inside of the elbow hence the pain and subsequent tear in the tendon.
