The little pinky secret is not really a secret. I have a problem with collapsing on my left side at the last minute resulting in back trouble on my left side . By keeping my little pinky high it should stop me collapsing. I tried it today and to be honest it felt different in full flight, to keep my left hand high and it just kept coming down to my side at the last moment. i just gave up in the end and went back to my normal way, i think i need to work on it in training. In the end i increased the speed of my aproach by rolling on to my marker rather than standing on my marker (if you know what i mean) and give it all in the last round. The result was a new P.B. of 52.64 metres so it was not a bad day after all. I also threw 26 metres in the hammer off two dodgy turns. Trafford, tuesday night here i come. P.S My club, Leigh harriers were promoted to division 3 of the northern mens league today, a fine effort all round by everyone. Celebrated by throwing team manager into waterjump. Anyone else thrown today? How did you do?

well i managed my 2nd best throw of the year 48.72m which is not too bad for the amout of throwing i have been doing and the pain i have been in. there was more to come but it was a double fixture (20 athletes) really poor planning if you ask me. trying to keep yourself going while 19 other athletes have to throw before you is really hard

Tell me about it, at the warrington open last week there were about 30 throwers, from about 10 years old to grandads like me at 27, as you can imagine the field offical (yes, offical as in one person spiking and returning the javelins and reading the tape) was at 10 metres for one throw and then at 50 metres for another throw as they did not sort the field out properly. It is very hard to keep focused in farcical conditions such as these. It would also help if other athletes would retrieve their javelins and stop harrasing the officals for distances. It took me and someone else to sort the throwers out and restore order. It is not the clubs fault, it is the lack off interest from the public and something needs to be done at grass roots level before there is no one left to officiate. We will soon be marking our own distances.

Well Oldham won Northern League 4WC today so were promoted as well!
I had good results of not to great performances:-
Hammer 1st A - 26m something Discus 1st B - 19m something Shot 1st B - 7.24m Javelin 1st A - 31.8?m
As you can tell unless there SB's I dont always remember the cms!
The only throw I'm half happy with was the Javelin as I pulled it out on the last round to win. Plus it showed that the last comp wasnt a fluke. Just didnt have the consistancy today but that happens.
As another athlete said "dont stress about you just did the business!". Although it was also bloody hot to be throwing all day!
