Hi. My name's Louise and I am 15 years old. My PB is 29.82m and I have been throwing for about 2.5 years. I wouldnt say I am a natural born javelin thrower but i guess i am doing ok. I have been county champion two years in a row and district champion four years in a row and unbeaten throughout my comps in county league for school. I really need to get the 30m mark in competition. I have thrown it during practice but i guess i tend to forget about my technique in comps as i feel uncomfortable throwing infront of many people. I think the english schools entry standard for U17 is around 36m and i really want to throw it! I am currently without a coach and am teaching myself. Could anyone give me any tips to throw 30m? Thanks. ;D

Nice to have another athlete join us welcome Louise and 29.82m is pretty impressive throwing. You will find all you need to know about javelin chukkin on this forum which has a wealth of talented and experienced athletes/coaches on board and if you cannot find the answer on here then it dont exist. Read through some old posts and get aquainted with some of us peculiar peeps and you will find loads of your questions have already been answered. Just shout if you need anything.

It probably happened cause you didnt expect it and relaxed. The javelin is a funny old event and things happen when you least expect them. At least you know you can do it. I found once I broke 30m I kept popping them that far on a regular basis. Hopefully you'll find the same. Now just to get that 35m off the practise field mmm.......
