I've taken to wearing an asics boot on my good foot and a mizuno shoe on the other which isn't so rigid - looks a right sight but at least I can drive home afterwards! As to the top half - I threw the hammer with a jumper and waterproof under my vest last week - it was pissing with rain and I was only there to make up numbers!

Back from the comp guys !!! I actually came second in the shot!!! I did a 'PB' of 7m 84!!!! The 8m mark is getting closer!!! (does cartwheels) The javelin was for laughs though, I did 8m 84, but then, I did a standing throw. My arm keeps going sideways, not 'above my head' as the other competitors pointed out to me. I really enjoyed it, had a good laugh and best of all, I'm now a 'competing athlete' (laugh!!!)

Well done Tallgal!!! You've done the scary bit now you can enjoy yourself. JB Well they say you havent got a sponsor but potentially hard training athlete who puts the hours in ..... he must be good now! If boots are too brand new they say two things - sponsor or newbie. Even then you can still pradict if there a new-ish or an experienced thrower would usually have a go in them to see how they feel before hand or have that much kit they've got their old ones just in case! Thats my theory anyhow and it certainly worked in the younger ages groups!
