are there any javelin throwers that started off throwing at much later age than most javelin throwers and still made it as a pro/won big comps?

as far as i'm aware steve backley started throwing at the age of 14...i may be wrong... he initially started out as a cross country runner

i havent made it as a pro or anything yet, but i only started throwing last season (aged 17 1/2), havent done any weight training/ conditioning work ever and have just won the senior english schools, I have only just started to get coaching properly at the start of this season

cheers mate, i just need a good solid winters training at the end of this season, im really hopeing for a 60 this season as ive had a few 58's just need that extra little bit ;D

i started throwing wen i was 14 im now 15 n improved on my pb of 32.65 wen i was 14 to now 36.75 at 15 with injury after injury! but with a good solid winter session i hope to throw 40 next season
