Howdy all, well it seems that the years of throwing with bad technique have caught up wih myme
Bad news is i wont be throwing for months good news is its end of the season!
Heres whats going on, during the last league competition of the year on sunday my elbow was sore anyway but just carried on as normal started off with the hammer was hurting but did ok a reasonable 34m to get me 2nd place
Then come the discus i wasnt looking forward to it anyway but carried on as it was just for points and me throwing badly was better than anyone else on my team throwing good... first throw there was a sickeing SNAP, CRACK and POP from my elbow followed by a very nasty sharp pain that shot down my arm to my hand and all the way up to my shoulder (one of the officals was nearly sick due to the sound) well i only managed 24m with that throw and once the pain died down i had better range of movement in my arm soo i thought id have another throw, as i wanted better points so needed further than 25m, 2nd throw fouled it sooo had one more and managed an ok 29m considering i was hurting it wasnt bad well me being me i didnt stop there did the other 3 throws and eneded up 3rd overall.
Then come the shot putt first throw hurt like hell ill try and explain the pain... it was like having my funny bone hit with a sharp object. i managed a reasonable 10.72m and come 2nd
then last event of the day my favourite throwing event the javelin i only really go for this but do the others because no one else can! safe to say i was not looking forward to it but i strapped my arm up gritted my teeth and put everything i could into my first throw it was only 43m but it was enough to win the javelin and thankfully i was throwing after the only person there that may have beat me so just sat the rest out waiting to throw only if needed.
As i was working monday night and by the time id got up and come round it was too late to phone in i went into work and luckly i didnt have to do anything that would cause any more injury but tuesday evening i spent 3 hours down A&E having various xrays done and lots of proding at my elbow which wasnt very nice! tuesday i got told id done some damage to the tendons which had ripped away from the bone bringing bits of bone with it sooo technically a fracture got refered to the fracture clinic on wednesday and spent a good 4 hours with various consultants and got sent in for an MRI scan as an emergency. It's great round by me just tell them your an athlete and where your ranked in the country and theyll bend over backwards to get things sorted as usually its a few weeks wait to just get an MRI!!.
Ive been signed off work for 2 weeks to wait for results from MRI scan which aint to bad really but i think im gonna be off work for a while due to nature of work im in. All ive been told so far regarding my arm is i have calcium build up which docs think is from wear and tear due to years of throwing so got little bits of bone floating around the joint and ive done something to the tendons which has also contributed to the bits of bone floating around and may have partially pulled my tricep away from the bone, just glad i got all winter to try get things sorted, we shall see whats the docs have to say.
Got no excuse not to go running now really, as its the only thing i can do with little pain as even just swinging my arms while jogging is painful at the moment. so just gonna let everything settle down and go from there. Hopefully the week away in faliraki will help as a bit of warm weather does the world of good shall just try not to get too drunk and fall down ;D
