...which is probably 99% of you.
Quick question - how to get an enthusiastic 16 year lady to throw off her heels rather than her toes ?
She stuck on 29-and-bits from her last 3 or 4 comps now and I'm sure a more aggressive plant will see her past this little barrier.
I don't want it to become a mental block for her (like it did for me in the hammer for TWO YEARS !).
So I'm looking for a sound bite or mental image I can place in her mind which will get her onto her heels (but not something that requires so much focus everything else goes to pot).
Any ideas ?
Thanks.

Do you get her to do javelin drills? There is one drill for the crossover where you can get her to imagine she has a pole stuck through both sleeves across her back and she has to keep it up at a slight angle at the front as she does the cross over drill. This will allow her room to get her crossover leg through and aim to get the heel down first. Go for flat feet first, and if she gets this quickly, move her on to trying for the heel first. You can do about 10 crossovers on a run depending on the length of run up. Hope this helps.

trying to get them to do the splits will stop them putting in a short base on their toes. obviously they don't do the splits but it gives them the thought that they need to reach out.
