Heard that Merv did a 68+ in the Bucks champs. Nice consistent throwing from Bonne!!!! How long before he gets his residency sorted? Surely he is close to World Jnr Champ selection!

I have just done the Sussex Champs and it is in a sorry state once you get past the U20s. The total age of the 3 senior womens competitors for javelin is 143 years!! 1st Caroline Garratt (me - age 44 and 3/4) 34.98m 2nd Karen Shackel (age 42) 30.92m 3rd Jean Lintern (age 57) 30.65 We are the top 3 all time throwers in the county (all over 50m in our youth) and still going strong! What is even more amazing is that Karen and Jean have only been back throwing 6 weeks and they managed to cope really well with a strong headwind - good technique will out! Whereas the youngsters, throwing at the same time, struggled, even with us oldies trying to help them. Keep the point down, don't drop your arm/wrist. My lot that I coach through the County Squad managed a bit better - one got a PB but it was the odd throw that went right not the majority. I was hoping one or two of them would move on to the mid or high 30's but at the end of the day, it was me that had thrown the furthest! It's not right - at their age I would have been wiping someone like me off the runway!

Re: Essex champs, was great to see Sketch hit a big throw - even if it did beat me!! He threw a little bit straighter than normal, think the spear was at least 4/5 metres inside the sector on that throw!
I hit all 6 throws within just over a metre of each other. Rd 1 was 61.9x then 62m x 3 and 63m x 2 - all landed basically in the same patch of grass. I just tried too hard again I think and so didn't managed to release one tall like Dave did.
Sam had a gentle shuffle in for a seasons best off basically a standing throw. Makes you wonder what he was doing earlier in the season with a run up!!
Good consistency from Bonne again - is making throwing 65+ easy which will put him in great shape to get closer to 70m over the next few months I am sure.
Emma Christmas threw a PB in the senior women's event of 41.98 just 8cm ahead of Louise Matthews. Brad Burr and Georgie had a good competition with Brad winning with 57 and Georgie with 55 although neither of them cracked a good-un. Louise Lockwood also made a comeback to win the U20 womens event and will be up over 40m with a bit more training I am sure.

Good performance from Stuart Harvey in Kent - 68.36. As far as I can see that's a 4m PB and 7m further than he threw last year.
