I used to throw the Javelin and was good at it (2001 Isle of Man Island Games, Scottish Schools Gold 2000, Orkney Shetland inter-county record holder (well done Emma! you deserved to beat it)). I gave up due to a dispute with a coach (not mine but involved with the club) and then a move to further my studies. I'm now almost 23 and have not done anything for years ( been busy being a student!) but would like to get fit again and get back into my throws! i 'm just wondering if anyone knows of a throws coach in the Aberdeen area that'd be willing to give me a boot up the backside and get me back to my peak and beyond??

Hi - Clark Hayward (the Scottish National Javelin Coach) coaches out of Dundee - if I'm not mistaken he works in Aberdeen. I can't lay my hands on his email address at the moment. He's Chris Smith's coach, so the next time Smiler wanders by, he should be able to give you the details. Clark has started Javelin Development Days at Grangemouth. THrowing in the morning and conditioning work in the afternoon. The next session is Sunday 12th March. If you give Mary Anderson (mary.anderson@scottishathletics.org.uk) a ring (0870 145 1504) at the scottishathletics offices she'll add your name to the list. She should also be able to give you Clark's number. The more people we have throwing the merrier. Except if you beat me , then I'll sulk . I spent a lot of time sulking! ;D

Afraid not! Aberdeen had a heap of snow and cr@p weather lately. I took my partners little brothers sledging and hurt my tailbone! Bit of advice to others, don't try and outdo 11 year old boys when going down steep hills on a flimsy bit of plastic! I now suffer from a SORE lazy backside!!! Maybe get something done once i get my uni essays out of the way!

Ah well, I went ski-ing last week and tore my pec a bit further than it was already torn. Top tip - never get on a rope tow!
