matti has good javelin control through the sequence, good width and nice delivery, just still that right foot issue is all i'd be thinking about, also please be careful when letting the left get so close to the concrete at the end - i bust some boots last week doing that and nearly knackered my leg. i've always liked lee's footwork, i have a CD rom here from when we went to SA in 2002 and he's only 16, but looks 12 and it's very similar then, i know this particular effort is only off 5, but i'd imagine his footwork and width is even better with prior momentum from a fuller run up. I think lee usually controls his spear well too through out, just has the odd issue with a solid left, but position at FRFC is good from lee, he sets himself up really well imo, just on this particular effort looks to of separated from his spear at strike. On the subject of lee on vid, i also have his 73.75m PB throw on my pc and it's a really good effort, just a sloppy with the left, but other than that it's pretty damn good and imo lee is someone who will end up over 80 sooner or later [one of the 3 or 4 i mentioned in another post that i think will do that ;D]

Steve Backley is getting involved with Matti now - which is a good thing - however, he is going a long way to see him - and the strength and conditioning guy he has been assigned. He is onl 14 and I hope this is not going too be too much too soon. Steve and me had a chat about Matti a Loughboro and he concluded, like me, that less is probably more for the lad over the next few years. We'll get his technique sorted and hopefully he'll continue to grow and develop irrespective of his peak height volume!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has thrown about 70-m in training already you know and is supposed to be concentrating on his run up and cross over drills as he still has his Douglas Bader legs and doesn't really get his right knee or foot around to the front on landing and if anthing over commits his right foot although I don't know if you have noticed - but he has two stages to his right foot hit with the 2nd hit occuring as he finishes the throw off. I'll see him this weekend and see if he -and the others have made any progress since the last squad.

I just read that I am his former coach Ipswich harriers coach which could be misread as his former coach or the former Ipswich harriers coach!!!!!!. Glad I read on.
I am still a bit concerned about all of the extra travel involved. Oh and the above was supposed to be a PM to you Phil!!!

I will ask the Athletes at the weekend, and the ones that agree, I will post up from the last 3 squad days, including this weekend.
