Thanks for these Jon, some really useful clips for me to work on and some good ones of Ryan, Kieran and Jess too.
Have thanked Mike and John M personally so won't go into it too much but it was a cracking session and now I know what all the fuss is about!
Can't wait to throw again and try and make the same things happen!

something i found interesting there was the long run up withdrawl drill, before the actual throw, can anyone tell me what the emphasis is with this one please? cheers!

This is my understanding of it (hope I'm not too far off the mark)!
The first run up phase was supposed to be very relaxed and controlled and was an opportunity for me to get my throwing hand, head and left arm in the right places in the x-overs.
The when I came into the second phase the plan is to acheive those relaxed positions again but with more aggressive work from the legs, in my case particularly the left.
Holding onto a tall relaxed position and holding that position for slightly longer than I normally do was a focus and in doing the 4 phased run up I was hitting some decent positions on occasions.
Hope that makes sense and that I'm right in thinking that was the goal of the "drill" but its something I will certainly use next time I throw.

i just find it interesting that a drill is Incorporated into an actual throw like that, i would do run ups separate, something to ponder maybe, but maybe i'm stuck in my own ways to try new stuff right now....i'll have a go at the end of a session some time and have a tinker with it.

Was Mike saying lean forward or don't lean forward to Keiron? IF so what was that in relation to?

Not 100% sure about that but I think at the time he was saying to lean forward to counteract leaning away. I think Kieron was arching his back and leaning backwards a lot so it was (I think) something to counteract this and hopefully end up in a tall position.

Just say what a super day it was at Bury St.Edmund-Sun Shining , Warm day and a very good Facility And of course Mike working his magic -All the athletes looked technically better after the session and equally enjoyed themselves.
In regard to James, prior Mike had looked videos of james and though that he needed to have a longer left foot plant. So he worked on James -1)to relax , 2) to work on his x crossover by making him work harder on his left foot rather than just relying on his right -He worked on his final phase to create longer hand time before striking - He felt that James rushed the his final plant so he worked on giving him a better base on the final strike , and in fact worked on a faster but more relaxed last three strides - More dynamic . Also worked on James being taller and on keeping head facing forward and not pitching down My apologies to Mike if I have misunderstood of what he said
Re Keiron Mike spotted very quickly an injury on his elbow -He felt it was directly related Keiron to arching his back prior to hitting the javelin -he felt that Keiran was shaping up to early for his throw rather than using his legs and hips to get him into position. Keiran was at first was bowling rather than hitting cleanly to protect his elbow. Mike worked on Keiran to throw correctly and again worked on his hips and legs plus getting him to throw using shoulder more than he has been doing .By the end of the session the improvement was noticeable , and Keiran was not hurting himself
Ryan second throwing session since last year was impressive , He certainly responded to Mike's coaching Mike worked on him to keep his left arm more relaxed and to keep tall on left side when striking with the Javelin -Working again on his legs and hips -Towards the end of the session he worked on him throwing higher than he normally does , which he achieved
Jess -u 15 , Mike worked on her getting a good plant and to working on keeping her the Javelin high and close to her head -Jess is relative new to throwing, just taking up the event last June- Looking at her on sunday would suggest she would have beaten her p.b of 27.60m on a number of occasions Just hope I have got all my facts right and not let mike down with my explanations
