I don't know who the girl in the green top is but i really like her technique in those pics, some excellent positions there tbh. She could perhaps be a little more relaxed but apart from that its spot on. How far did she throw?

yes also pretty good, she was slightly ahead of herself perhaps at BIG though, these on the other hand look great! Who is her coach? they are clearly doing a good job. Maybe with a spot of explosive power and plyo work this girl has got the potential to move on up. Top stuff- its really nice to see some of our girls doing their bit to catch Goldie and Co.

Looks may be deceiving Wez! I was yarning with Ken this weekend and it came up in the regional/national reports that our current crop of athletes barring a few - were not physically good enough and she was one of the few who measures up pretty well. Apparently she is strong, and can sprint and jump. Not necessarily evident in her run up which I have always thought was to slow but Ken told me that she had some problems with her legs regarding this (forgot exactly what) but what he said made sense. The test quads showed her to be a very good athletic specimen apparently and Ken said she was strong although I didn't get around to asking what that meant - as I have mentioned before that many of our throwers are outlifted by female heptathletes and 400m runners which is totally unacceptible in my eyes!!!!!!

Lianne and Laura do create good range and are quite tidy technicians but lack a bit of oomph at the end IMO and that still of Laura before landing suggests that she may be a little heavy on her right to carry speed onto her left but stills can be deceiving. I'm sure the biomechs data can show the decelerating effect of the right and left leg though. Some of the girls don't really look like they are really eye balls out attacking it but it is good to see them going in the right direction. That black girl whose name I have forgotton is an outrageous talent!!!!!!!
Do you see what I mean about Matti's right foot being too far back - it lands at 2 o'clock and then rather than turning it he sits on it and his heel overtakes and makes his right foot turn to about 4 o'clock before striking with his hip (Zoidburging!) - and TBH - that's as bad as I have seen it. He'll wreck his right knee if he doesn't sort that out. He drifts off to the left a bit at the end so he doesn't foul the line and we got him to take it back a little so he snuck another stride in! I showed yatesy the training throws compared to his first couple of throws where he was collapsing the front leg somewhat but he got over that for his 2nd round of 3 throws. He looks a completely different animal then - hence - the frustration when athletes do different things in comp compared to training.
If he didn't have 6 throws he would have ended up with 55/56m again! 3 throws in club matches sucks for some. What he does have is good rythm and line's the thing up pretty well and attacks it. Again in comp he is a little more reserved and in practice his first few rounds are usually sloppy so he needs to find a happy medium for competitions. Me and Pete kept telling him to go away and do something active rather than lean on the fence and talk to us!!! Bless him!
I've siad it before - I really think he will be good one day as he has a pretty good throwing action already and he likes to throw at big meets. I'm leaving Ipswich soon but hopefully have got someone local to look after him over the winter months.
He's off to Finland for their throws fest on Wednesday so we are hopeful he will throw a big PB - the top Fin has thrown 58.99m or something like that so he's looking to give him a bit of a kicking - and beat him in the meet!
From what i understand - it is a 4 day event (jav only) where they do a meet, get various input from coaches and then do another meet a few days later. Uwe Hohn (104m.80 WR old spec) will be there among many other top guys so it'll be great for him. I asked UKA if they would be willing to send a few athletes and their coaches over next year - and the response was positive. I would have gone but it's my last week of term and have to move out by saturday!
BTW - wasn't the throws fest really good!!! If they could stagger some of the elite comps and maybe have them all inside, we could all get the opportunity to see the best throwers at some stage. Well organised, liked the MC ing and music but UKA really have to sort the weather out next year!

Yes the Finland Javelin Festival was originally the same weekend as the english schools but got changed earlier in the season. I was all down for going but would have clashed. I would love to go as a group next year, as I already asked in a previous post. www.keihaskarnevaalit.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&Itemid=57Click above for the info, but change it to english unless your clever, or Finnish! The english version is on your right of the web page

They staggered the events last year Nije, Hammer was inside while some of the javelin and discus were outside. The trouble was, the jav run up outside was rubbish...just a long bit of tartan track taped to the grass (really!).
Dont know why some of them were not staggered this year, but no doubt that was the reason.
