Thats wierd he throws 700g it doesnt matter if its with 600g as then it doesnt atter towards the rankings this year. i think im ranked about 4th in the uk right now and i didnt want him to increase his almighty lead over me.
Also is dan a member of this forum?

not sure what you mean to be honest..........as far as i know he's not a member, but as usual i'm probably wrong and he is one of those members that just doesn't post much...................
............if i intepret you right, you mean why has he thrown the 600g jav, when he's an u/17 and obviously should be throwing a 700g???..... well as he's still 14 and 14 till july, he can go for the uk age 14 best [not actually a record, only a best] as the old one was mark lindsey's 58.27m as an u/15 - they are rare as most athlete's birthdays fall early season or well before so they never get a chance of them - hence dan is lucky in this respect........................tbh yes, he's throwing well and i wish all the very best as he's a nice lad but age bests in my opinion [as i said] don't mean a great deal it's age group records that are the main prize..............if dan can throw well over 65m this summer and by this i mean 66/67/68m then he has a genuine crack at it next year - IF he keeps improving like he is............at the end of the day age group records are very, very nice and they do mean alot but athletes develop at different rates so don't mean a great deal in relation to success as a senior [which is the ultimate goal] - there's no rule that says good as a kid = good as an adult................the most important thing of a young athlete should be learning and appreciating the value winning things whether it be the school's sports day or the english schools' championships.....................to win a gold medal in whatever is the reason why we compete.

Dan and his family do keep an eye out for the forum, it's one of the many avenues open tro him for finding improvemnent tips, but he wants to let his spear do the talking. Understabdably, being young, with a huge thirst for improvement , enthusiastic and keen to do well, he's having a crack at all the "bests" set before him. No doubt if there were age best records for 400g, 300g, 200g or 1,200g, he'd be having a crack at those too.
Also it spices up his training throwing different weights; e.g. arm speed with the 400g, which he's thrown over 70m in training.
As the Slinger says, the "traditional records" are clearly the target, but this guy just loves competing, and he loves winning. There's no certainties in the future for any of us, we should admire this young man for taking his opportunities as and when they come.
There's far too many spearpeople and other athletes woh have the attitude "Oh I'm not quite ready for this comp", or "it's a little early for me". My guess is that many of these people are too embarassed to "post" a disappointing result; these are the true "obsessors" of the rankings.
Dan's philosophy is to work bloody hard all winter, using all the different training techniques available to him, conditioning his body (so that it doesn't break down or get injured) for competition in the coming summer and prepares, prepares, and then prepares some more.
We've all heard the 6 P's: Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance (and injury!)
He can't wait for the weather to change, the runway to de-ice, and then start throwing again. All this massive time and effort goes in so that he can compete, which is his passion.
It's a strategy that's working quite well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yer i train all winter with wieghts and conditioning, but i still seam to get injurd. My coach says im iinjury proan as i get injured doing everything. Like last week i hurt myself walking across my hall. Its stupid but hey javelins now my life. And im paying the price, lol.
The question is " Can dan keep this huge distances up, or will he burn himself out?"

i'm sure he can continue to throw well throughout out his career - as jeremy said just because they are young and good doesn't mean we should wrap them in cotton wool till they are older, if opportunities come along when people are young they should grab them with both hands, as you never know what's around the corner..........my only worry for him is that he does compete a lot [this year and last year too his name was in AW results loads last year] and from my past experience you can easily become stale, no matter how much desire you have it can still happen.........he's obviously found his timing right now and in my opinion [for what it's worth] it means he doesn't have to go chasing anything now in my opinion 4 more comps [ 2 a month - those being the counties, the regionals, a club meet and the county schools' are more than enough for an athlete who's found good form.......add a week's rest with very light training the week before the english schools' and you are on a winner..............the regular competing might work for dan but what i've just said worked well for a lot of athletes in the past, i hear dan's hooked up with peter yates which is a great idea...............and yatsey, who's very experienced will be able to guide him well.
