the things i was doing differently in that throw was trying to be taller.. normally i drop my chest just before the throw.. the spear went nice and high and flew really well too..
shame i couldn't get it together in the first throw of the comp...oh well the season is long

what do you mean the season is long! it hasn't even started yet!!! it's still winter!!! you've got loads of time yet, no rush, bide your time i say...................
i like a few things sam, firstly i like the point control, yes it's not 100mph but control of the jav is good and is paramount to the flight - we all shouldn't neglect javelin control as this is one of the main factors in influencing flight and applying force into the javelin correctly. You are staying tall which again helps the flight but also allows to use the rest of your body effectively - staying tall isn't just an upper body thing - everything starts from the ground up and it's about working your feet actively during the X overs to the ground and it look like all those hours spent doing foot drills have helped sam as you can stay toe orientated during final right foot contact, which of course is great and ideal as it allows you be able to work the lower right side [foot, knee, hip whatever works for you] early, BUT to do this the foot has to be in a position to do this ie 2 o clock [sam's is 3 o clock] this would then work a bit quicker get you onto your left quicker = a wider base and research has shown the quicker you can get right driving onto the left the further you throw, by this i mean the contact time difference between right foot landing and then the left foot landing.
given the good things you can do with just having your hips a bit more front on during the X overs will help loads as it'll increase the speed you can run in at, allow you to keep having very active, aggressive feet even more so infact and get you into the position at final right foot contact you want.

Nice alignment of the javelin, but why are you running that close to line? You can almost feel you are shortening your throuw because your to close on the line. I got the feeling you don't finish your throw because you have to stop instead of following the jav with you body

javmat, it's just a warm up throw!!! a nice and easy warm up throw with no pace.
- watch it again and he goes well over the line! - he isn't bothered about the line as like i said it's only in warm up.
