right then sam, as requested i'll post my views, firstly it's evident you train with james as you both do similar things,
i'll start at the beginning and work my way through the sequence............this must be a throw off a very short approach with Little pace as the range in the X overs is lacking and there is little run off, this however is expected as throws from short, slow approaches have no momentum taking you into the throw and it's very difficult off this pace to get the range needed, from these short approach throws, the stride length must be exaggerated and the foot contacts active and aggressive. Most athletes on these short throws to get pace quickly, lean into the throw as they start their X overs and this must be avoided at all costs as it puts the body too far ahead of the throw and will lead to a rushed throw and a topped javelin.
The run off isn't too bad as it has enabled you to get the left foot past at final right foot contact, however at this stage you will notice you sink and sit for the next 3 frames [lower right side doesn't move at all] this is probably caused by the extremeness of being too side on, and the right foot landing flat, i'm going to explain a little about right foot contact again in jame's post, but i'd suggest that you throw far to side on - i don't see the javelin tail until later in the sequence.
was the throw fixed feet or does the sequence miss a recovery? however the block is okay, as the left hip doesn't travel forwards much after final left contact and it gives you something for your right side to work against [when it does eventually!] my overall feelings are that it would be much simpler to throw linear - throwing rotational can tie your lower body in knots - i should know!!!!! and this will give you the "chance" to get your right side working sooner.

What I want to know is how you can afford all of them javs? I think young "Sharpey mi lad" has covered all of the ground on this one, again the right side is somewhat ineffective but hes already said that somewhere in there.:-)

In that bunch of spears there is a Nemeth 90 a Carbon Champion an Apollo Laser 60m and an OTE Comp Tailwind
Weapon of choice for me is the OTE Comp Tailwind James likes both his nemeth and the OTE..he has actually thrown my OTE further than any other 800g...over 63m in training
Thanks for the replys... that darn right hand side is very inefective. i need to work on running off the right into the left block (which isn't too bad at the moment)

it's too side on, i bet if you were more linear with your right foot placed ahead and and 2 0 clock it would work much, much sooner even without thinking about it.........then think about a few things such as being soft on the right as soon as contact etc and it'll even work prior to left contact.......throwing the javelin is simple........run straight, keep the spear straight finish facing striaght.............."LOUD SHOUT" &.................watch the javelin fly down the middle to 60m - job done, go home, go bed and do the same again next time you go!!!! SIMPLE

As Sam said my weapon of choice is the Nemeth (thrown all of my comp PBs with that) but the spear I have thrown the furthest is the OTE.
I plan to post some photos of a rear view of our throwing. This will show the next common problem with our throwing namely that the spear starts pointing to the right stands and ends up in the left side of the sector and never really travelling through the point at all!
I think Sam himself knows how lazy his right side is and it is important to note that it is exactly the same off a full(ish) run as it is off 3 strides.
If anyone else has photos they can post please do, I've found this really valuable myself and its certainly aprked conversation.
If you are unsure of how to do this or how to upload it, send the videos or photos to me by email and I'll do it all for you, we have lots of unused diskspace and bandwidth on the website.
