Not regarding the competitors.... but the competition.
What a Pile of CRAP.
For those of you who are thinking of going and normally buy your tickets when you get there....DON'T BOTHER. There are no tickets left...they are sold out!! Not even one for my fiancee.
There are no coach/managers pass's and the number you need to contact for them is incorrect.
And seeing as the comp is at 6.10 in the evening most of the poeple who did get tickets will have gone by then and half of the stadium will be empty.
And I say again CRAP...... they tell the competitors they will not be given any free pass's to them, but don't even reserve any for them to buy... even UKA don't know what to say.... I spoke to Ian Hodge and he advised they will be looking at the situation for next year to see what they can do, but does not know what else we can do......
So that means a 4-5 hour drive to crappy manchester, throw.... and then 4-5 hour trip back home. It will be a great comp.

have you though that the timing is such to allow for the television timings and that the arena will not be empty. don't be so negative just go there and throw well. I can understand your frustration at there being no-tickets and if i had had some foresight i should have arranged with UKA to have some tickets avaliable to our forum members. I will endeavour to arrange for some tickets to be avaliable through us for next years aaa's

Some of the timings will have been altered for TV and I very much doubt the stadium will be empty. In fact I suspect that the Mens Javelin will be part of the TV program (as much as a field event ever is) due to Mr Hills and Backleys presence (plus Neiland and Roberson). BBC broadcast starts at 5pm - 7.30pm. That when the "important" events to them is on. The last event is the 200m final whichis on of the most contested places for the olympics. I can guarentee it wont be empty. Its not that unusual time to throw. How many league matches youve been to where you ended throwing at 5/6pm?!? Be positive this time the place wont be deserted! Regarding the ticket sales. Yes UKA have made a boob not having a first chance to competitors / coaches and that will have be sorted but what you fail to realise is that Manchester only has a 5000 seating approximatly. It isnt that big an arena and if you look at how the seating is set out most of it is on the bends (yeah for watching javelin) but on the straights as usual. This is because it is also Manchester City's Reserves Ground (wasnt impressed when I heard)! Also bare in mind its always been down south. Not that many people have had a chance to watch it so of course the Northern athletics fans have turned out in force to watch it. Also its had a a fair bit of advertising in Manchester and around Manchester so we may even have converts to the sport there! Northerns like there moneys worth and wont leave before the end! ;D Norwich Union isnt even doing the ususal corporate hospitality for the companies that are the main brokers in the area. I was gutted about that as my other half was checking like mad for me (his company would have been one of those with free tickets and they had been saved for me and him!). As for the drive to crappy Manchester (the defensive bit.....) The drive is your / your budgets choice and you have to deal with it for the next 3-5yrs as thats how long the contract is for Manchester to have the trials. There is some reasonably priced accomodation in Manchester and as the stadium is in East Manchester you dont have to stay in the centre (www.manchesteronline.co.uk) for info etc. The crappy bit I sense is frustration talking. Remember some of us forum people live there!!!! (aka me ) Relax it gonna be a buzzing day with annoying offficials, BBC getting everywhere, those annoying sound effects when you throw and people pointing, staring, cheering and trying to understand the mad sport that is athletics. Have fun and throws far!

Neil I know exactly how you feel mate seeing as I too could not get entry. I have had to borrow ,beg, steal a ticket from a colleague to get into see Mick and the rest of you perform so at least I will be in stadium but this means I may not be anywhere near to the actual throw hence the need for a pass, sometimes it makes you wonder why we bother, I also tried to get a pass for Gateshead when Mick threw there and was told politely to bugger off by both Uka and Fastrack, good eh?we will have to learn how to limbo for future events.

You need a couple of lessons in pole vault and a random pole......much more interesting than limbo. The fences around stadiums are never that high. The scallys always manage to get over! ;D

Haha I would need a BIG pole these days to carry my ungainly girth. ;D Bad habits die hard and knocking about with Wilf is where the limbo comes into it, mind you him being two feet nothing makes it look easy. Good luck to all throwing on Sunday may Pbs rain down on you and not the wet kind, I will be watching you albeit through binoculars haa.

Ah that is true but Wilf is like the Yoda of javelin coaches. He may be small but he is a wise one, he makes things look easy........plus hes more than capable of kicking arse when need be!!!
