Saturday off to Hull with a packed lunch to watch two of my female throwers perform their art after a hard winters training and......"what the hell" they carry on like they have never seen a jav before in their life and look like a couple of choir girls who have lost their voices, bad, bad day. Came home polished up the old 12 bore and told the missis to get the insurance docs out, 30yrs of coaching down the pan. Decide against the former and reach for the bottle instead, deep sorrow and decide on whether or not to give up my "top earning" coaching career(earnings todate about 100 grand in the red sponsoring Uka) . Sunday - packed lunch and off to Leeds to see some of my other lot throw whilst wearing my shades to cover blood shot eyes supporting mega headache. Sun is out, suncream on, coffee out and "hello" 3 Pbs and mucho hand shaking from well impressed parents, faith is restored and future coaching job looks safe (debit bank account again) reach for the bottle to celebrate and wearing sun shades again on Monday to cover blood shot eyes and supporting mega headache. Blessed be all spear chukkers. Hope you all had similar or better weekend without the alcoholic prop.

mmm hull ... i threw at hull as well that day and frankly i wish i hadnt ! what a disaster, and after reading motherhens post i will use her comments to blame my hideous performance on the stadium rather than the curious collapsing sight of my block. in short i threw my toys further than my javelin and got a little angry .... and just in case i bumped into any of you that day sorry if i bit your head off ! i went in a proper kiddi stomp after getting red flagged on final throw and ending up with a best of 5m off pb. if i did go mental at you sorry about that...... i had to apologise to girlfriend 3 times before we were out of the car park ! this was after an ill advised mini rant at her.... apparantly "dont worry, im sure it will be fine, it was just an off day" was not what i wanted to hear ! so onwards and upwards i left sunny hull for a lovely weekend away from it all in norfolk..... thats the norfolk in east anglia.... the norfolk with hunstanton in it... the norfolk THAT IS JUST A 30 MIN DRIVE FROM BOSTON WHERE WE WERE SCHEDULED TO THROW UNTIL THEY CHANGED THE FIXTURES AND TOLD ME JUST A WEEK BEFORE..... 2 WEEKS AFTER I BOOKED THE COTTAGE ! YES THAT NORFOLK.... THAT BLOODY NORFOLK ! What a lovely drive 2.5hrs in a car with a labrador an upset girlfriend with a javelin on her knee and the worlds biggest child minus his dummy, rattle and action man ! what a weekend indeed BP... you were'nt the only one using a pint size crutch by the end of the evening !.... what a great way to warm up for next weeks yorkshires... so i did the only sensible thing.... bamed the equipment and bought a new javelin ! thanks for the dvd by the way bp . ive been away all week so havent looked at it yet but will tonight / tomorrow and pass it onto james and the sams.

Hahahaha that has brought a few laugh wrinkles (my excuse) to my face hahaha what a bunch of misfits we all are? I weighed up my thirty years plus of coaching young whipper snappers etc to throw a rolled up piece of steel come alloy and then I pondered as to why Im such an idiot, in fact the dog now automatically jumps on to my boot as I open the door to the house after a meet haha, only kidding for any "animal righter`s" out there. I actually heard the sonic boom from your back support that was launched from the run -up area at Hull, now if you could only throw the jav like that??? Listen here, I have also booked a room at Boston for a meet on the 20th June that looks like a whos who of throwing., it is only throws on the day and the guest list, if they accept the invite that is, is incredible, all of Britains best throwers in each event, ie, Javelin for instance-Neiland, Hill, Roberson, Parker, Yates, Faben, Dobbing, Kelly Morgan, Goldie Sayers, etc, etc, cannot remember all of the others but la creme de creme, so I hope that my accomodation payment is safe and the track Safety Certificate is given in time. Anyhow JB at least you gave your hen pecker a weekend out what more can they ask of you?? Top hole mate see you at the Yorkshires..bring the shades the weather is ordered already..Ps not to put a damper on it but Mick has entered..go for the juggler

i have a great idea.. if you can teach your dog to catch a javelin you could throw it and your dog would catch it before it hit the ground and then run to 100m and drop the javelin point first... john bryson..PB and WR 100.00m ;D

Slight problem with the dog idea sam.... the little sod would just bring it back to me and drop it at 1m ! ..... which brings me onto an interesting questions, whats the shortest anyone has thrown in a competition ? i noticed a 5m throw at norwich this weekend, can anyone lay claim to less ?

Hi Neil for your info Boston is on the East coast in Lincolnshire just below Skegness seaside resort. I was speaking to Peter Arnott who is one of the persons that help run Boston AC and he was also instrumental in getting a new track built and put down for local athletics clubs in Boston. The track is hosting an inaugrial meeting hopefully on the 20th June and it is going to be field events only, probably just throws and will be by invitation (I think) sent out by Peter. His e mail is peter@parnott.force9.co.uk if you or anyone else wants more info about it. I mailed Tom direct with this answer.
