On Sunday I'm doing my first comp of the season thought it might be good to have little prediction games on what I'll throw. Now dont worry I wont get offended if you under estimate or over estimate as i only throw for fun now. Heres some facts to help you predict:- I haven't throw the javelin seriously since August and only training I have done technically is through coaching / demos. My PB is just under 33m and last year had a seasons best of 31m. My seasons worse last year was 29m. I've been going to the gym a couple of times a week and doing a mixture of generic fitness work and more specific things. I also try and do extra flexability session on top of that. In addition I'm not over weight but by mine and all my previous coaches admittance I've never been the fastest thrower but survived off a good technique. I'm also doing the hammer, Discus and Shot before hand but I always do for league matches! So take your bets......winner gets a gold star!

Well I have to say thats what I reckon will be reasonable on Sunday but I obviously would like 30+. Although to be a real winner I reckon it will have to be down to cm's lol!!!

33.67 PB! thats my prediction and im sticking with it ! go for it mate and i reckon the extra work in the gym etc will really pay off i want that gold star motherhen so get going and get throwing far .... YOU CAN DO IT ! and if i win the gold star and you get a pb i reckon you should go out with your mates and get stuck into those oldschool 10 pints uni style ! .... be warned though every time i try and get back into my uni drinking mode i fall off the pace very quickly and it usually ends in tears now im a old bugger ! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D good luck

Unfortunatly I have had to stop drinking larger (especially Stella) as it is now my "loopy juice" and i do react very badly to it (get either very giggly girlie or too aggressive). Maximum I had the last time I tried was 2 pints! Now vodka JB is a different story I definatly cant drink like in the good old days (the reason my training went haywire) but can always have a shot!

Ok Marie I tried my best to abstain from this one but you know me, Pinnochio, in for a penny.. and all that goes with it I reckon that you will do the same thing that you always have done and that is to give it your best shot and 100% + effort, who could ask for more, irrespective of distance and you will, as in the past, be a credit to your club and fellow athletes. Oh dear, a little face with pigtails, but now all grown up and putting something back into this sport with coaching etc, plus still competing, in the words of Bobby Ball "youll do for me"" have a good day no matter what and rule no.1 "enjoy" Bri

Thank you all for you messages of support (what else would you expect from here!). Had a bit of a mixed day but the club came first (Northern League Div 4NW) which is what matter and my definatly not heartbroken with my effort.
First hammer went better than expected threw 25.09m which saw me comfortably first place (and is only comple of meters off my best which is great seeing as I had started to forget what a hammer looks like!)
Then popped over a high jump (only one height) and got 2nd B.
Discus was a mare despite good practise throws got first two in the cage and had to do a safety throw argggh so only 3rd in that
Shot went surprising well too. 7.76 (my PB is 8m) First place again.
Javelin well I have definatly slowed down with age and had to watch dropping my arm and have it a little early but threw 28.98. I was hoping for late 29's early 30's but wasnt the end of the world. Came 2nd and need a PB to win.
Next match Northern plate match at Oldham (get rid of the shot and High jump this time). Hey and Brian I never had pigtails. I was a little shorter when you met me and I just had much worse temper tantrum. You'll be happy to see that the tamtrums are now competitive spirt ;D
Hope you all had good weekend
