I just thought I'd let you know that I have thrown 65.12m in the Under 17 mens jav and it was in the District Schools so it didn't get published and no-one seems to know about it! James Campbell Cheers

no-disrespect...the reason that no-one knows about it is because of the inconsistency in the way throws are measured in schools matches, they tend to be ignored. Questions that i have to ask... Did the javelin stick in the ground? Were the people measuring the throw qualified officials? Have you got a copy of the score card? Can anyone else validate your claim?

Forget it then. They were sure it landed correctly even though they were PE teachers, I can get a copy of the scorecard, lots of people can validate my claim I wouldn't just make it up. Hopefully I should throw further than this so forget about putting on the rankings if it isn't official enough. None of the district schools results ever get printed in Athletics Weekly either so there isn't really anything I can do about it. The result was in my local Gloucestershire paper but thats the only place I have seen it.

to be honest james i think this is just nit picking. ive seensome reel dingbats officiate even regional championships so i reckon your claim should stand. it stook in, people saw and it was in the paper so if you can get a copy of the paper/scorecard and post it on here i reckon it should stick,
well done mate

James forget the card mate cos if you are throwing that kind of distance at your age then you dont need ink and paper to back it up, you posses a real talent and sooner or later someone will be knocking on your door not to ask for proof, but to ask that you "share" this gift with them. The time to do the talking is fast approaching in the guise of the English Schools Champs, this is where you want to give them "proof" and state your case though your spear throwing. Keep the hip/arm lubricated and ignore the "irriitants" of schools sports. Anyone who throws that distance at your age gets the attention of the crowd. Well done.

I am merly pointing out the questions that would be asked by the people in the know. I am in no-way trying to discredit the throw. I have set this club up to support and nurture Javelin Throwing in the UK. My main point here is that James needs to throw these throws in Major or properly officiated competitions. I have been following james's progress through the years and to be honest i'm very impressed with him as i am with Stuart Harvey. i'll be even more impressed if they can both push each other at the AAA champs to some 70m throws like they are both capable of doing.
James you had better make sure that you get yourself down to Watford on September 18th for one hell of a day of javelin throwing!!

Hi all, As you may know im doing the ranking list's for all age groups and i had to make my mind up with the younger age groups if i should use distances that had been thrown in things like TSB school's and district school's comps etc, etc, etc. I got intouch with someone that i know that does hammer and shot rankings and he told me that he does not count these comp's because most of the time the teachers from the schools are the officials. I've looked on other sites that are doing rankings and they have got the same distance as i have for you. I also understand that we all go to comps and have people help out on events that are not officials. You're not the first person to say that you have thrown a better distance in a district school comp. I've had someone else tell me that their distance is better then the one i have down for them (with the distance this person has told me, they have put over 6 metres on their pb). I'm not saying you have not thrown the distance because you have. But now you have thrown it once i'm hoping you will throw it again and hopefully further. I hope you understand where i'm coming from. ;D

Sam I was not having a "pop" at you mate I was just trying to boost up the confidence of this athlete and tell him to ignore the schools comps. Both Sarah and you are correct, you cannot include these school distances into the rankings, I once had a fourteen year old girl who threw a world record at a schools shot comp, 23mtr + cos they measured to where it rolled rather than to where it first landed, good eh?. and I also have a handful of athletes who have thrown considerally further than stated in the current ranking but these again were done at school so dont count but obviously the regionals and counties are a different story.I have just read the other post from Sam Cater and it states that James did a pb of 51.16 today so I havent got a clue what is going on really, a bit off the mark of 65?
