simon wurr herne hill harriers 3.99m GET IN!!!!!!!!!!! I just checked this, just in case I cocked up...but yes, it is correct! I reckon a software mistake, I just had a quick scout, I think it should be 1500 metres 3.99??!! I can not see a javelin result ever for him anywhere else! There is hope for me yet.... ;D

i was in a discussion with someone at the w/end and they said these people shouldn't be allowed to compete as it wastes time, i think they might have said it was bad advertising too but tbh i'm unsure about that last one, so don't quote me! but whatever i said if they enjoy it then why not? what's other people's verdicts should there be some standard to meets so you have to throw so far or run so fast etc before you can do them - especially the bigger league matches [if tbh this was the case ifeel that many comps would have a very poor turn out of athletes] or should someone be able to turn up and throw 3.99m maybe enjoy themselves and even start training for the event??? or maybe they shouldn't be allowed???

For as long as you have leagues with points for teams, then you have to allow any standard to compete. Often, it is the only way people get to try the event in the first place, either at the actual competition or the training session beforehand - "just nip over there and take a couple of throws / jumps". Who are we to judge what should be allowed and what shouldn't?
If people want competitions with standards, then you have the intercounties.
