i will be there too....... .......it's going to be cloudy, about 5oc tops and a slight north westerly wind.......3mph infact..... me thinks the same end rob, as usual! - forget my idea of the clock end!!!!!! the only problem with these opens is that there's no time table only an order of events and you don't know what they are till the you get there, so you could be on at the start [12pm] or right at the end like nearly 5pm!!!! so you have to get there at about 11am so you can get javs weighed, numbers and warmed up so you can compete if you are on at 12pm - only problem is the last one we did and rob will agree was daft as we were there till 5pm!!!!!!!!!! and it was raining and ruddy cold!!!!! all part of the fun i guess..... .......bring on the english schools at gateshead - 24oc, partly cloudy and a slight right to left tailwind.................mmmmmmmmm ;D ;D ;D

hope that reply is not for me............ i'm an overweight EX javelin thrower - threw one tonight with mike and he was throwing 700g javs and as usual i threw a couple in my trainers off a 3 strides and threw a massive 40 odd! so there's no way back for me i'm afraid............... .........BUT if the need arose reckon i'd still be able to don the lycra's and boots and go full run up, supercharged and "thwack" a 70.......... as i keep saying......."still got it son!" ;D

just a quick post on the results from the blackpool open..........rob "eggbert" eggleton threw nearly 56 and mike threw 51 [600g] not quite a pb for rob but he said he'd be happy with what he got so he can't grumble!!! mike was fairly happy with his pb but was abit peeved as he had a good 'un which was a fair bit further in the warm up so although 51 was a new pb he left with a bit of a "what could of been" feeling but hey that's life!!!!! both were struggling to get to grips with the run up - they weren't sure about there check marks for withdrawl and therefore couldn't commit fully to the throw as fear of fouling - lot's of run up work me thinks on finding a run up which feels comfortable to "attack it" and be safe in the knowledge you are going to stop behind the line!!!!! overall a good day...... not quite a........ ;D just a........

watched the vid, rob and he was all over the place, when it's in normal speed you don't really notice things as much but his X overs weren't equal widthed causing him to sort of slow down and not be able to drive off on impulse - usually he's really good at this as it's something we've spent ages doing but i think with us both [mike and you] not really knowing much about were your check marks [trainers! ] should be just yet.......rob, just a quick note as well forgot to mention while i was there you too were doing the same as mike but in your case more.......the left foot contact before you drive off into impulse or run off it must be wider as at the mo. it really slows you down - lasher wrote a while back about it being either a braking force or a propelling force yours is definitely braking!!! something to think in your mind is make all the strides during withdrawl even widthed, this'll ensure rhythm and accereleration...........to throw near your pb is good news mate!!! as this simple adjustment will be massive!!!!! work on that coupled with loads of run throughs and you'll be quids in as you line it up nice and hit it down the line of the thing with good aggression! i can see 10m + for both of you..........

how many throws did you get sam??? we only had 4 on ours - bit disappointed with that........plus mike couldn't do the 700g u/17's as the u/15's and u/17's were together - couldn't even have the last round or two in the u/17's even though we'd paid for it albeit it was only 1.50..........but still not even one........

We had 6 throws. Only problem with the comp was that it took 95 minutes to complete those 6 rounds! Combination of throwing all age groups together and the 100m races halting our progress as the starter had to stand right next to the runway.
Think my near 63 throw was the result of a rest from training this week eating big slices of horse in France!
Good to meet Big C today and hope we've drummed up a few more customers for javfest - don't forget to tell people at all the open comps you go to!

I know I know!!! ;D As much as I would love to start again...the pole vault has done me in.....back still numb and unfortunately getting worse! However, my Javelin Coaching continues, and as I said to Sadie today, dont give up on it just yet. She made the changes I asked of her after the 1st round, and there ya go, pb heaven for the young girl! I would quite gladly let her get further away from me.......this old man aint finished yet though! We need to get some consistency now........
