Either Rule 130 paragraph 5 or Rule 130 Section 5. I'd go for the first one.

I don't understand why people want to borrow your jav anyway. Most of the time its someone who has very little idea how to throw the thing in the first place. Do they somehow believe that your brand spanking new Nemeth or whatever will empower them to throw more than 30m! More likely they will get another dodgy throw and a throbbing elbow for their troubles. Having said that i'm always happy to lend my spear to a decent thrower just so long as they are not throwing directly before me. Heres a question though- how much difference is there really between all the models cos it doesn't seem to matter what type i throw they always go the same distance. I tend to find it more useful to wear my lucky t-shirt or underpants

The problem is for newcomers that most of the nice shiny javs are also very stiff and if you don't throw through the point its going to cause you alot more pain than your bog standard apollo which is nice and forgiving. By the way my old Apollo has been know on occasion to sail over 60m so they can't be that bad!!

My favourite Javelin was the Nordic Vicking, I threw that over 36 a few times, however the tip fell of and I exchanged it for a Diana

if a newbie picks up my jav , my usual banter is (with my ote tailwind)
"You might be better off throwing the others, this ones really rigid and only flies if you hit it perfect. otherwise flies like a clipped chicken and will hurt" Bending the truth slightly but it sounds like your doing them a favour by telling them to PUT MY F^&$ING JAV DOWN.
Still didnt stop Felix throwing my spanking new ote tail down paving slabs. what am i to do, the guy's huge!

i remember doing some GB junior match in spain with dan carter and some kid got hold of dan's precious nemeth [ ] - never asked him to use it and somehow managed to winkle it away without dan knowing [ ;D] anyway this kid threw it and it hit one of the distance boxes at the side of the sector right smack in the middle of the jav!!! hehehehe! - dan's looking A. like he's gonna cry cos his jav's knacked and B. like he's gonna kill the shortie spanish kid ;D ;D ;D.............when the official brought it back it had landed on the box right on the bottom of the grip and had only marked the cord a bit! so it was fine and not bent/broke or whatever!!! phew!............still funny as hell thinking about the look on dan's face as his jav was flying towards this box! hahahahahahaha!

What would you do if someone did break a jav without asking for permission? As my jav's worth more than my car ~(big up my nissan sunny) you wouldnt expect someone to jump in and crash my car without paying for the damage.
Has anyone damaged somebody's equipment and had to cough up?

I think that it is important that everybody can use others javelins in international meetings. Then there is no danger of "cheating" about using illegal javs.
In Finland everybody can use others javelins, but especially kids mainly uses their owns. The name of the game is that you just need to ask permission to use clue if there isn't that before in jav.
btw, I don't understand why you guys use chalk anyway? Anybody in Finland doesn't use that.
The thing why to use clue is that you don't have to squeeze jav so hard and your hand is more relaxed.

Normally when people ask me, I say "I'd rather not". Not had a problem so far.
I lived in France for 2 years and they have the same rules as the IAAF. All javelins in the pool are for everyone. I knew this too three javs, to give me the best chance in warm up, and not having to wait for someone to throw and then me going to collect it. I had a real barmy with one of the officials and I stood over him and said rather strongly (you know when these foreigners don't understand you say it again but louder) Who will pay for a new jav when the other guys who were throwing them (landing tail first)
One of my questions (stupid maybe) when does the competition start. When you step on to the track even before the warm up or when the first persons name is called for the first competitive throw???
Anyway... may be because I have spent a small fortune on my javs, but I'm very possessive. I would only let some one else throw them if I knew them and knew they would throw them properly.

When I've thrown abroad, I've always managed to fight off anyone else using my javs during the warm up throws. Must be my glare.

There is obviously a cultural differene in this issue between Finnish and Brittish people. Maybe it is because there isn't normally many Finns in competitions who couldn't throw javelin so that it lands in tip first I have solved this problem so that if I know there is newbies in competitions or I know that field is bad I just don't take my best javs in competition. Well, that's not a big problem anymore because nowadays I normally compete in national or international meetings.. yeah and i meant glue, not clue, sorry. ...and btw, I prefer to get an insurance for javs so there is no panic if some of those get broken.

The only insurance I've managed to find doesn't include for my javs getting broken in a comp. Does antone know of an insurer who will cover this?
