Here i am posting in the injury thread again! I know i'm not the only one this year to experience this first hand but i've torn the medial meniscus in my left knee- thats right the blocking leg! I have had it properly diagnosed etc and go in for surgery tomorrow to get it sorted. The doctor thinks that there is a good chance that i will recover quickly and even throw again this year. I really don't want to hurt it again so i'm thinking of getting a decent knee brace, but i have heard some talk that certain types of knee braces can actually worsen the problem. Has anyone els got knowledge or experience of this and could you make a recommendation? cheers Wez

Oh Wez, after all that good winter work. Fortunately my knees are currently the most robust bit of my body.

Well it just wouldn't be me if things didn't go wrong. Don't worry though because like the Terminator...I'LL BE BACK.... I might be made out of metal too I'll be a bigger man for the experience i'm sure. Already gained 2kgs!

I've had the OP now and am in recovery mode for a bit, the procedure went very well and am told that i still have more than 90% of the meniscus intact so expect to see me soon on a runway near you!
I'm still interested to hear if anyone has opinions about knee braces for throwing however- don't be shy!

Thanks everyone for the snippets of rehab advice and well wishes, i expect to be back in action in the next 2 weeks. Just had a bit of a test phase to see if i'm up to comp fitness etc and all went rather well, almost pb-d my clean too which is a bit unexpected having not done it atall for over a month. The main issue remaining is with the stability of my left leg, its up to about 75% strength but still feels a bit awkward and sore especially when i do any lateral or rotational movement with it. I can't believe how quickly things have improved considering how if felt just 4 weeks ago i think i will be back to pb condition in another month.
