have you had a scan on it , ive had 5 operations on mine still not right i found that a body blade has helped me loads get one for doing it at home and to warm up before throwing as well it works well but you need to see some one to see wether you have torn it or not , but the body blade you can go through the throwing motion and build it up through the ranges of throwing , if you are down jav fest i will bring it down lee

I've got a little beauty thats easy too do in any gym and has worked great for me over the years that i call 'crossed arm flies' Lie flat backed on a bench and hold a plate flat in each hand with the middle two fingers through the hole. Keep the elbow bent at 90 degrees and cross one hand over the other so your are holding both discs about 5cm above your chest with the palms facing down. Now in a circular motion rotate the plates outwards pivoting from your elbows (keep the elbows suspended out by your sides and don't let them move during the exercise) when the arms have rotated outwards in a sort of bent arm fly position you will feel the stretch across your chest just return to the start position. make sure you always keep the elbow bent at 90degrees and the hands flat in the same position so they are plam down when crossed and palm up when extended and do not rest the weight either on your chest or the floor.
I would recommend that you choose a nice small plate like 2.5kg to begin with or even 1.25kg if that is too painful and do 3 sets of 10-20 reps.
Then i expect you to get your arse over to BAL1 so you can lose your bet gracefully and buy me a couple of nice cold pints.

top 20? 67/68 will get you top 10 no doubt for the men, but it would be nice to see 10 over 70 this time around....... i think my highest ranking is 8th or 9th.....mmmmmm unsure tbh! unusual that!!!!! it would be nice on one or two occasions to beat a few of the higher ranked athletes, always a pleasure doing that but if i can rank higher than my best ever, well that would make it all worth while ;D see you at the intercounties beano, wez?

You won't see me at the intercounties due to the fact that i no longer actually live in any of them! If my master plan works out and nothing falls off during the season (for once) then you WILL see me at the AAA's this year or any BAL premier match you fancy popping along to. I've definately seen you in 9th before Slinger and that was of course when we had Mick and Steve driving the train so it should be easier to get into the front carriage this time around.

That is real bad luck beano, at least 2/3 full weeks rest, get some ultra sound, try a short course of comfry tablets (supposed to help with torn muscle !), not forgetting the ice and some anti inflammatory. Then try some rehabilitation exercises, this way you stand a better chance of doing the BAL and surviving the season!
Gez had this problem, and the physio did a lot of work on his neck and especially his trapezius, which I continued to do between physio treatments, this helped a lot.
Expert diagnosis is a must especially for the older athlete, because there are 3/4 other conditions which cause similar symptoms, anyhow we hope to see you fit for the 1st BAL match

Sorry mr slinger i was talking about me in the top 20.I think my best ranking was 13th in 2003.
Thank's for all the tip's and advice. The hardest bit is not picking up a jav when the shoulder get's a little better, and just to rest it.
I'm sure you can get some unpaid leave for a couple of you comp's slinger,i know i did ok along with 2 or 3 booked holiday's.The post office are making a little more effort at the mo to help sportsmen with their comp's.
You're throw high 60's poss 70m on sat and that'll be it you will hav the bit between your teeth again.

Beano - when you start to recover and feel more comfartable at your shoulder I have some good cable exercises you can do which help to protect the rotator cuff - I posted some pictures on the forum of them somewhere and will have a look for them now. They all involve the elbow being locked at 90 degrees then there are pivoting and rotational movements at the shoulder. I'll see what I can find!
