;D I know it's not funny, but at least it's not my shoulder. Down the gym doing cleans, half way through a set and I thought, "Hang on, something's not right". Stopped, wandered around, started to bend over - oh dear. Looks like I've strained something in the area of the Gluteus Medius. Good news is walking doesn't hurt at all. Bad news is driving is a killer and sitting is uncomfortable. Never mind, I can still do arm work.

Careful with this one, it may well be that you have hurt your spine and the pain sensation is just traveling there. Check if you can pin point it to a muscle group for certain. I've done something similar in the past and it has always meant a very long lay off period, so play it safe and fingers crossed. Some anti-inflamatories probably wouldn't go a-miss and if it doesn't clear up in a few days then a visit to the osteopath may be in order. To all you others out there it just highlights how important good technque is with Olympic lifts. A stable lifting postion for cleans and snatch should look something like that of a silver back Gorilla en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorillanotice the natural slight forward arch in the lower spine with the shoulders back, if you always mimic this position when squatting down to begin the lift you will have a nice safe position that protects the spine and generates the most lifting force.

Thanks, Wez, cheered me up. Lots of ice and a few anti inflammatories mean it's much better today. I am sure it's just a muscle as it is confined to the area of the Gluteus Median although whether it's that or the Gluteus Minimus, I can't say. Jobs I would never be good at - anatomy / physiology / stuff involving naming muscle groups. I got a great book Women's Strength Training Anatomy, it is very useful.

P, good to hear it clearing up. Hopefully just a bit of a twinge then. Remember to lift like a gorilla next time and you'll be fine.
S, is your sore arse curry related or perhaps the result of a wild night at the blue oyster bar.....hehehe
