Hi everybody. I'm suffering from serious shoulder pain. I found it when i was lifting my arm on Saturday night. It was okay during the day, when i did pullover and some reactive throws (plyo pul over). Now, i feel pain at the front shoulder joint and the side, when i lift up my arm. Its fine when i lift it up front ways, but i feel pain when i tired lifting up sideways. Other then that, i felt stiffness when i raise my arm up, and soreness in the muscles around that area. I'm suspecting it to be shoulder impingement. I'm looking forward to you guys' replies. Thanks.

Sounds like impingement. If it is its rest and ice for you! Thats the only way to get rid of it. However, get a proper assessment from a physio/sports therapist because it could be something else or an underlying problem causing it which will make it come back.

Guys! Thanks for the replies. appreciate it. I've seen a doc. It not a serious impingement, its an early stage. so, no throws or gym on the upper body untill i feel good. I have overtrain, thus, overstrain the muscles there. Thanks.

its not as bad as the original post but i wasnt sure what to do about my shoulder (i didnt make a new post as this is to do with the shoulder too so..) its been hurting when i get into the bow position when i bring my elbow up over my shoulder to throw and even when i mimic the throwing action without throwing anything too, and once i get in that position it hurts for a while after. i know that if its ligaments or muscle you should ice it but it feels like the socket so i wasnt sure what to do- ive been doing weights now which i hadnt done before recently and i think its probably overtraining- so basically do i do the same and just ice and rest it? thanks

Because there are a number of muscles / tendons / ligamients that criss cross each other around the shoulder, pain which seels like it's in the socket might not be. You can't go far wrong with icing at the moment, but make sure you do it immediately after training / throwing and not wait until you get home. Instant Ice Packs are brilliant for this if there isn't any real ice where you train. But, of course we'll come up with the same advice as everyone else. Get yourself round a physios! If you can, get one that really knows about shoulder injuries. That isn't easy, but well worth it! Perhaps we should set up a "refer a physio" link. Chis Dack would be top, of course!
