Thanks Wez, I saw my physio today and he said it was not too bad. The sheath was slightly damaged but not the tendon itself. He treated it with inferential and ultrasound and we talked about my boots - he has a bit of experience here - ex army and combat boots! You'd be surprised how many soldiers have this problem! I will cut down the back of the boot and experiment with the lacing to take the pressure off the tendon. Ibuprofen was also recommended. Luckily, there is a good physio team that goes out to the Masters to look after the GB athletes so I will be in good hands out there! Only thing is I still have another pair of unused white and green Asics jav boots at home - part of a great deal at the time! Any takers? ;D ;D ;D

Just to say thanks to those who gave me advice - I cut the boots down to relieve the pressure and took Ibuprofen and visited the GB physio out in Slovenia for a loosening calf massage followed by icing until comp day! I didn't know if I could jog let alone sprint until I warmed up for the competition - it was ok! ;D ;D ;D ;D I ended up throwing further than I have in quite a while 37.67m and placed 5th. ;D ;D ;D ;D Mind you I would have got bronze in 40 - 44 age group and silver in the 35 - 39 group!!!

I will look forward to competing with Emma - but I will miss the mens jav comp as I won't get there til later probably. Are you going as well to keep an eye on your charges? Or do you let them cope on their own!!

My achilles problem resurfaced in the warm up at Kingston. I had one reasonable throw in the first round but the cold and rainy conditions started to tighten my calf and ankle up. The wind was being unpredictable to say the least! I gave it until round 4 and then called it a day. I have decided to end my season there. I'd like to spend the winter training rather than recovering!!
