I've been bothered all winter by a muscle spasm in the back of mu shoulder. Weekly trips to the physio(s) doesn't seem to have helped terribly much. We've tried acupuncture, deep tissue massage, laser, rest...... It had got a bit better until my first throwing session. I had to stop as my collar bone was hurting (yes, I know I'm collecting injuries) and it wasn't until the middle of the next day the back of the shoulder went into spasm with avengance. Earache, toothache, miserable. A simple "there, there, there, it well get better after a week of long hot baths with Hot Chocolate & Baileys" will do nicely.

my back goes into spasm and it happens when i do anything repetitive - consistent bending and things where my back is being used and i'm sure it's because nerves are being "touched" by the disc bulge/fluid release and this in turn makes the bottom right hand side muscles go into spasm............maybe you are tweaking some nerves somewhere and something is in your shoulder that shouldn't be there i.e scar tissue or a bone growth maybe??? bigC or lasher know about these sorts of things.........

ive been suffring with back spasms for the last year or so. i found that doing lots of stretching on a regular basis made the time between spasms longer, as did swimming. general flex work really. as for getting rid im not much help, i tend to have to take nurofen and lay very still till it wears off... which can be very annoying and also a little embarrasing deoending on what your doing when you put you back out !!!!!!!!! then it just a matter of getting the physio to work it out.

Well, there's the thing. The physio calls it a "muscle spasm", yet it is constant. The only times it's more sore is when I breathe in deeply or pull my shoulders back. Apart from that, it's just there, like a nail being hammered in.
