Just back from the physio's and I could cry! Whilst we've been treating other injuries over the last few months we've also been working very hard on shoulder stability following trouble with the bicep tendon the season before last. I competed this season pain free. However, it has reared it's ugly head again despite all the remedial work we've been doing to keep it at bay. As every with this injury it's overhead work and end of range work that's causing the problem. The physio now thinks the tendon has scarred and thickened as it goes through the notch in the shoulder and he's now muttering about MRI scans and surgery. Neither of which fill me with joy. Is there anything else I can realistically try, or is it a case of biting the bullet (and finding the cash) and getting an MRI scan?

chloe cozens has just packed up throwing the spear to i think a shoulder problem, kelly morgan has had endless shoulder problems and i think goldie has had shoulder trouble in the past too, hopefully yours is nothing too serious, but what i'm getting at is getting the right treatment early enough is so important, especially with the shoulder as it's key to the javelin throw, MRI scans are expensive i had one afew years ago on my back and it cost around 400 notes but it did show the injury i had, the treatment never worked and it's still not right now but that's a different story!!! perhaps you could raise the money through your club??? hold a raffle? do some other fund raising, do you live in a village??? are you well known for your athletics? we held a disco type night at my village hall a few years back and had one of the top local bands playing, all the money raised after paying the band went to funding my athletics for thew year in total i got just over 1100 quid!!! all from a village with 300 people, there should be no price for being healthy and i hope you get it sorted out soon...........what's your real name any how???

what's your real name any how??? You may call me Miss Bruce. MRI scans are expensive i had one afew years ago on my back and it cost around 400 notes but it did show the injury It's all money, money, money. Fortunately I'm working, so I'd better get saving. I might have to cancel a ski-ing holiday for it. As for raising money, good idea, but perhaps that would be best for those young enough to see great potential in it. I'm not convinced my shoulder ever settled properly after I dislocated and I've always had trouble rolling over when I was sleeping. It never really bothered me when I just competed and didn't train. Now that I train properly, it seems to flare up every now and then.

Not a teacher - a Project Engineer / Manager. I think my contractors would be able to tell you a thing or two about polite, but firm. Even more tales about impolite and firm when something's not right. Interestingly (or not), we have met. I think it was 2 years ago in Carlisle, one of your first competitions back after injury, I think. National Junior League. Who are you kiding?

I had an interesting conversation with one of the guys down the gym. The shoulder has flared up again since I've been using the Smith Machine thingy for bench. Fortunately, I should be back in my normal gym in the next couple of weeks. In the mean time, I may give bench a wee miss.
