I've been nursing one for 2 years now ever since doing a comp in cold weather without a warmup- stupid boy! I've been looking around for the answer myself and i've tried strapping the forearm but the strapping kept getting broken or then was too restrictive. I think it also depends on exactly which part of the elbow is injured. In my case it was the connective tissue between the two bones on my inside elbow. I can no longer use any force when rotating my elbow but instead now try to do all the rotation in the shoulder joint so my that elbow joint only makes a linear pullover. As for strapping, like i said it hasn't worked for me. All i can say is neoprene and lots of it. If the problem area gets warm enough it regains some elasticity and is a little more robust. Apart from that don't underestimate the usefulness of the Javee or elastic bands etc. If any of you guys have got better solutions then i am also dying to know what they are

Slinger, I am aware of strapping in this area when the condition is more of a tennis elbow type injury, top side joint, rubbing a cube of ice firmly across the joint can sometimes afford relieve.
Best strapping is to strap the throwing arm to your side until it is better, then do not hurt it again. KISS. But that is never going to happen is it?

I have an elbow support that I tried for a while. It is just a band that goes around the forearm just below the elbow. The idea is that it takes the pressure away from the tendon. It did help me to throw during training with less pain but I couldn't wear it in competitions as it was restrictive to be effective.

I used to have a problem with my elbow on the inside leading in to the elbow up the forearm. I did it throwing, hitting the jav hard dropping the elbow and Lucky it was the last comp that year. I couldn't throw at all and did shot all winter. Now I got my support from JJB sports. It's a black one that you velcro the lower part around the top forearm and the upper part around the bottom of the biceps. the inner side of the elbow is open but the sides and back of the elbow are covered. Helps with the warmth and I can adjust it to be tighter or loser when I need. Not sure about tape and that lot. the only other is either tennis elbow thing with a strap tight below the elbow (top of the forearm) or golders elbow with the strap above the elbow. don't know if it helps.... www.return2fitness.co.uk/Supports_And_Braces/Elbow_Supportsyou may want to look here... www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/front/lowerleg/shinsplints.htm and scoll down on the left for the elbow part. Sorry, not sure of anything else.

"H" yes we at Barnet on saturday Gez is looking for a big 45m+ jav Ha ha! With regard to the elbow problem, rest is of course the best cure, but those words go in and out of throwers heads faster than good coaching advice! I have in the past with some success used Homoeopathic remedies tablets and ointments... I would plumb for Ruta Grav 30c tablets and Ruta Grav ointment, and again work the ice cube "against" the joint with some pressure, over the ointment of course as it affords some protection against ice burns.
When better, keep the deltoid close to the ear when chuckin the spear"!
